Except I don't think people were questioning Dean's financial commitment, it was more an argument between posters on how much we would spend. It was about a change of mindset, just getting your head around the amount of money involved was hard for some to contemplate. This is a big statement of intent, TBH I couldn't see Dean getting here and not giving it a fair crack, his emotion in the penalty shootout was the dead giveaway. Go Dean Hoyle!!! Craig, if I had the time, I could ressurect at least one damning thread. that I have personally been involved in (had a spat with others) where the shit management of Chris Powell was put squarely and firmly at the door of Dean Hoyle and a lack of investment. I repeatedly maintained we had the Players to be much better than we were quality of football wise (we had some superb Players) and didn't need major investment in the squad. It had nothing to do with Hoyle, Powell's failings. Dean Hoyle absolutely was questioned on his financial commitment under the tenure of Powell and held responsible by some. Didn't last season highlight that the squad we've had in previous seasons was nowhere near good enough to be a top half team? Mooy, Schindler, Lowe, Kachunga, Palmer, Brown, and Hefele got us promoted, not Lolley, Scannell, Clarke, that Australian who isn't Mooy whose name I've forgot, Lynch, Gobern, Miller, Coady, Gerrard, Bunn, Holmes and Edgar? The squad we had was not better (or not MUCH better) than it's placings. You're right though, this wasn't a financial thing, the current squad was probably put together on a similar budget, just we happened to get players on loan who clicked and were better than we'd previously had, combuned with a number of other factors that made this a perfect storm. This really was a one shot opportunity, you can bet that.

Davidson was the Aussie that time forgot.
We also had Dean 'The Heff' Heffernan not that long ago.

At the risk of repeating myself, the answer to this conundrum has been there all along. Ooh-ra Ooh-ra Moo-nee-ay Over the hills with the swords of a thousand men. Fits like a glove, will look and sound fkn amazing whether in the stadium or watching on Sky. One of the best songs of the 80s, hands down. It simply has to happen. In true DATM fashion, there have been some truly awful suggestions and I wouldn't expect anything less. Think Pipes has had it all along. Close thread and get gargling!

This really was a one shot opportunity, you can bet that. Its pretty simple, before David we was doing what most teams in the championship did, taking part in the bang average championship manager merry go round. Dean this time tried something new, it was a risk and it payed off. We also broke our transfer record doing it. We now have one of the best managers (and back room set ups) in England. I do agree the team from the start of 15/16 could not do better then they did under wagner or Powell. Powell played the football that got the best out of the team. wagner played the team to the way he wants football to be played. which is most likely why we finished lower under david. because the team was not good enough.

These are all very good suggestions but you know it'll end up being "Mounie, Mounie, Mounie" similar to the Rooney chant.
(I'm aware Mounie isn't pronounced like that but when has that ever stopped football fans?)

Then it'll have to go in Nicks own special sub board where no one will see it cos even he doesn't go on there now as it doesn't annoy anyone, far easier to play the victim on every other thread instead 😱😉😁 Shut up you Fool.

I dearly hope we can have songs which pronounce both lads' names correctly. Please lest not embarrass ourselves on the global stage. This is a datm responsibility. Let's get it right. We're not all halfwits oop North.

Utter bollocks Powell had the players to finish higher up the league. Like who? We didn't finish any higher up the league with those players after he had left. I think he left us 19th and we finished 19th.

The players we had in were good enough to finish 12th-15th. We may have finished 19th but the football under Wagner was so much better and we went toe to toe with the opposition rather than holding out for points like we did with Powell. That Rotherham game under Powell at home was one of the worst performances I've ever seen from a town team.

Dean clearly changed his mind about Powell. I know I did. At first I thought he'd be a good appointment, and was hopeful of making some progress. After a while though I realised he was draining the life out of my football team, and turning me off them too. I walked away for a year. Dean withdrew his funding, and sought a replacement. Thank God he did too.

Yawn, do I have to repeat myself again. Your song doesn't fit like a glove perfectly because you ve had to make up words to fit in with it and do we really want to sing a song that can be twisted by opposition to take the piss out of us IE sword is another word used to mean penis ? This fits much better Mounie oh oh, that s what we want, oh oh,that's what we need,oh oh that's what we want,oh oh we want Mounie The best things in life are free, but you can give them to the birds and bees , we want Mounie oh oh that's what we want (same as above) then his goals will be busting you net, you think they wont (or " not ") ? you wanna bet ? we want Mounie oh oh that s what I want ( as above ) then maybe his goals give us such a thrill We don t care , if they don't pay our bills ( or we don't give a fuck if they don t pay our bills ) We want Mounie oh oh (as above) Sang to tune of Money (that s what i want) by the Flying Lizards of coarse only singing one of the verses above if most won t learn the 2 or 3 verses, whatever always sing Mounie oh oh that's what we want oh oh that's what we need oh oh that's what we want oh oh we want Mounie to begin song and before and after each verse . leaves us free then to sing Depoitre to Deh eh eh pot tray Deh eh eh pot tray pause Deh eh eh pot tray Deh e eh pot tray (repeat) Song for Mooy is easy if he signs.Just sing like we sing the "whoa whoa nah nah nah nah,nah ah nah nah nah ah,nah, nah, nah, nah nah mah mah song as we sing the whoa bit so Mo o oy Mo o oy pause Moo oy Mo o oy ( and then maybe the nah nah nah nah nah nah nah nah nah nah ah ah nah nah ah nah nah nah nah nah ah bit - either with that or not and repeat )

Powell had a good record at working with tight budgets. Bingo!! You're hired. As far as making do? Too right. Wagner made far more use of limited resources than Powell ever did.

I think he left us 19th and we finished 19th. That's not telling the entire story. The football Powell served up was horrific, at a time when black managers are needed to be pushing on through, trailblazing in terms of breaking into the top division as managers he was a terrible advert.

FFS. Some folk have far too much time on their hands. FWIW after a quick scan on here... ASSUMING (STILL A BIG IF), he signs, Tenpole Tudor song has to be the one. Great idea, and one of the first singles I ever bought

It's pronounced Moo-nee-ay. Three syllables. The acute accent on the e makes the difference. We pronounced Lowe and Hefele wrong most of the season so who cares. Make the name fit the song, that's what count's.

I haven't blocked anyone, ever...not even Nick. But you're very close to being the first. You make me edgy. You're clearly not wired up right if you think any set of football fans is going to sing umpteen verses and choruses for a player. The Tenpole Tudor line serves all the requirements we need thanks. In the meantime you keep yawning and repeating yourself as much as you like, and singing on your own!!

And to think people have continuously questioned Dean Hoyle's financial commitment, balls and desire to really give it a go. He's bided his time, invested very shrewdly to give his side a shot at the big time. Now he's made it he's going for it in a big way. Build while you're on top. We've got one of the uk's best business strategists and inspired leaders in charge of our club. He's taken Huddersfield Town into a new era of glory days. Yes some on here spouting we wont spend reasonable amounts on transfer fees seem to have gone quiet. I thought about 6 million would be the most we would spend on a player but Hoyle and Wagner know what they're doing.
