Thanks for all the hard work Nhaki the chasing of lost causes in a system that worked for HTFC if not best suited to your game. Whatever the circumstances behind your departure you leave us with your dignity intact. Best of luck fella playing off Chris Wood will I am sure be right up your alley. UTT and a big clap from me on your return. Now I like this!. Excellent post and I totallly agree.

Wish nakhi well on this (except against us) will get a clap from me on his return.. scored some important goals to keep us in championship and last season did a job for the team shame he didnt want to stay as would.of been a nice back up this year for us..legend status maybe a little to far but was a important part of the best season I have seen as a town fan and I will never forget that

Can't say I'm particularly sad to see him go, for whatever reason (formation, injuries, whatever) I don't think he ever really 'clicked' at Town. He's been a much improved player under Wagner, better control, better work rate but for over three years it felt we were always waiting for a prolific spell from him to prove he was as good as we hoped. I don't think he'll suddenly become a 20 goal a season striker for Burnley but he'll definitely get one or two. Good luck Nahki, good business Town.

Don't think he'll be anywhere near Schindler on the 23rd mate. It would be a miracle recovery if he's match ready by then. December the 30th is when we might see him up against us. And if he's in the squad, he will get a big round of applause from me. Been a great servant for us. I wish him well apart from when he plays against us, where I hope he has the biggest Tony Blair of his life!

In the right formation with his confidence back he could surprise a few. I hope he does. One of our ex players I would be happy to see flourish.

He's done well for us has Wells and played a big part in promotion. Fact of the matter is though he's spoken openly about his wish to better himself away from town and he ran down his contract. Even his interview at Wembley smacked of me, me,me whilst the rest of the lads were talking about the team. Maybe he's just too honest in interviews. Anyhow £5M in the pocket is a good result for us, Bradford must also be over the moon because fairly recently the chances of him moving up looked extremely slim, at one stage he barely looked championship quality but he's improved massively under Wagner, be interesting to see how he does and if he gets much game time. Good on Burnley for taking a chance on another champ player.

If it's Burnley away it'll be nothing, because he'll still be out injured. Against Burnley at home, I'll applaud when his name is announced for the service he gave us.. Applaud him why? He was offered a contract in the league he always dreamed of playing in. He turned it down, newly promoted, maybe the best manger around. More interested in money, not like the money is bad anyway. It's the way you go about things, Clayton will always get a clap from me. Butterfield no. The same Adam Clayton that played dirty tricks when he wanted to leave?

A good transfer - player happy, new club happy, old club happy - done with respect and class. Good luck Nakhi.

Got nothing against Nakhi for leaving - we were always a stepping stone to the PL for him (we probably sold the club to him with that line) and so if, for whatever reason, he was unlikely to play in the PL with us then he was always going to leave. Might have been different had he not been injured this year (he'd almost certainly have been on the bench and got some minutes), but the fact that we haven't brought someone in suggests that Depoitre's absence from the matchday squad is only temporary, and so Nakhi was third choice in any event.
Gets good wishes from me for his role in our promotion team, particularly after he fought to get in the team up front after Kachunga started the first few games (he turned the game when he came on at Villa), even though he was no doubt helped by injuries to wingers.
However, I don't think he was a good fit for Wagner's system - his all round play definitely improved, but not enough, and I don't think he's quite got the tactical brain or physicality necessary if you're going to play this way. Probably a better fit for Burnley with their big man little man combo, but I don't really expect him to set the league on fire (despite Burnley's great start). As long as we stay up, I would be happy to be proven wrong, though!
We will have a contingency plan for January if need be, and in any event now is when Moss's work really starts to prepare us for the next window. Good deal for all concerned I think!

Transfer makes total sense for all concerned.
We get (alleged) £5m for a striker way down the pecking order, Burnley get a player they want, Wells will probably play in the Premier like he wants to and Bradford get a percentage of the profit we made. Everybody happy I think.

I hope it works out for him. Sometimes a player needs a change of scenery to progress. Don't be surprised if he starts scoring for fun. Arfield upped his game at their place.

Burnley's style may prove better for him, Dyche and his chairman wouldnt pay 5M for a player he didn't think he has a use for. As Suggested by DH, Wells has probably had some poor advice from his agent or others close to him in the past but it's time for him to move on. Scored a pair of excellent pens to keep momentum going in the semi and final shoot outs.

We've been made stronger by our new arrivals. I can't honestly say we have been made weaker by Nahki's departure.
Good luck to the man... but we move on.

One thing we never tried was to play Nahki alongside a target man. He excelled in this role at Bradford and I expect him to do well in tandem with Wood. I hope this doesn't come back to bite us on the arse.

After reading the examiner I've just realised we made more money from the sale of Danny ward to Cardiff, £1m. Than Bradford City made out of Nahki Wells move to Burnley (~600k). If the 15% of any profit sell on clause is correct.

Good Luck Nahki, helped keep us up and then go up to the promised land. He'll get a round of applause from me, good servant.

I hope this doesn't come back to bite us on the arse. Huddersfield Town, under David Wagner, play with one forward and that is highly unlikely to change. I think it's generally accepted that Nakhi Wells suits playing off/alongside another taller target man. He may well do comparatively well for Burnley, and if he does so be it. But he didn't suit our system, he didn't want to sign a contract extension, and he may not even feature regularly for Burnley as he's a few strikers ahead of him when gets fit.

Well written statement that by his agent. At the awards dinner he was quite clear in telling our table how shit Huddersfield fans were.

Presumably Burnley were willing to believe that his injury will clear up sufficiently to make the transfer worthwhile for them. They're probably right, I'm no expert but this doesn't seem like a career ending or even career altering injury.
