Really? He was at an awards dinner with Huddersfield Town fans & slated the fans? That seems pretty unlikely, even if that is what he thought. I was sat there and heard It with my own ears. In what context though? Did he just say you lot are all shit for no reason, or did he give a reason like he gets nothing but abuse from them? Bit odd to come out to that when you are say with a load of town fans.

One thing we never tried was to play Nahki alongside a target man. He excelled in this role at Bradford and I expect him to do well in tandem with Wood. I hope this doesn't come back to bite us on the arse. We tried it with Holt, Ishy, etc. Certainly didn't work wish Ishy but it showed promise with Holt in a couple of games.

I'll never forget his penalty at Wembley, 3-1 down and he jogs up from the half way line and places a perfect shot right in the corner. A brilliant penalty taken so calmly. A miss then and Reading are only one shot away from promotion and we are shattered. Some strikers don't even put themselves up for penalties but he did. Cheers Nakhi and good luck for the future.

Pretty ironic that he couldn't take penalties in normal league games. He must have one of the worst penalty conversion rates in our history. Must have missed 4 or 5 penalties in his 3.5 seasons with us.

Got nothing against Nakhi for leaving - we were always a stepping stone to the PL for him (we probably sold the club to him with that line) and so if, for whatever reason, he was unlikely to play in the PL with us then he was always going to leave. Might have been different had he not been injured this year (he'd almost certainly have been on the bench and got some minutes), but the fact that we haven't brought someone in suggests that Depoitre's absence from the matchday squad is only temporary, and so Nakhi was third choice in any event. Gets good wishes from me for his role in our promotion team, particularly after he fought to get in the team up front after Kachunga started the first few games (he turned the game when he came on at Villa), even though he was no doubt helped by injuries to wingers. However, I don't think he was a good fit for Wagner's system - his all round play definitely improved, but not enough, and I don't think he's quite got the tactical brain or physicality necessary if you're going to play this way. Probably a better fit for Burnley with their big man little man combo, but I don't really expect him to set the league on fire (despite Burnley's great start). As long as we stay up, I would be happy to be proven wrong, though! We will have a contingency plan for January if need be, and in any event now is when Moss's work really starts to prepare us for the next window. Good deal for all concerned I think! XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX Burnley's great start?.....No, I'd say a solid start to the season - losing 1-0 at home to Pulis's boring Baggies is a bad result even though the Clarets had enough chances to take at least a point. It's probably all downhill for Burnley after being 3-0 up at half-time at Stamford Bridge on the opening day.

I would like to wish Nahki best wishes in his move to Burnley and I hope his career progresses well.
I thought he was superb last season and boy did he work his socks off, albeit without scoring the amount of goals he would have liked.
It will be interesting to see how he fares in the Premiership at Burnley, although I would have liked him to have a crack at the premiership with Town , but that's football, good luck Nahki.

I'd like to wish Nahki Wells all the best for the future but obviously not when we play them. In general he did ok for us, and that pen when it really mattered. We move on ......onwards and upwards UTT

Put it this way, if we take 4 points from Chelsea away and Spurs away I will be absolutely over the moon. I'd say Burnley have made a brilliant start. By the way good luck Nahki and thanks for all your hard work.

Thought it was. Remember it as I was sat behind the goal for some reason. We played great that day, probably best performance under Powell. It wa salsa one of those games where you wondered why we didn't set up to be more positive more often. So many games we played for the point and slipped to 1-0 defeats.

Away at Newcastle , sat in a pub with my kids, chatting away to Geordies. They told me I would see a world class team, and an amazing stadium and some brilliant football and I would have a great day. Finished my drink and stood up to leave and said to them " any o'you guys heard o'Nahki Wells"? ""who" came the unified reply, I smiled and left. That was the best away game in decades. Wembley was the best Town day ever, who scored in both, who has never badmouthed my club. Case rests M'lud.

If Burnley are going to play the system that apparently 'suits wells' like Bradford did- which is basically hoofing up to a big guy to flick on and hope wells gets on the end of it, then let them get on with it, because that kind of League 1/2 stuff will see them finish 20th.
But i don't for a minute think they will.

Although Dyche has mainly played 4-4-2 since he got there ... although this year I think he has so far amended this ? .. as you know slapps I like wells but I would be surprised if he plays 10 games for them this season

Hes gone from 4th or 5th choice here to probably the same at Burnley, so his game time will be limited unless he has a stormer when/if he gets a chance.
Think its one of those transfers where two managers have different opinions on a player and guess one will be proved right in the end. Wagners thinks he isn't good enough for where we are now, and Dyche thinks he is.
You never know, he might prove wagner to be wrong, but i doubt it. Think we've got a great price for a lower half championship striker myself.
Despite not rating him, I wish him all the best though as he was part of the side that took us up. But ultimately he was poor last season. His part of the team was the one piece of the jigsaw that was well below par throughout and he lacked the effort and desire to get himself into goalscoring positions way too often IMO. We went up despite our strikers ( him in effect) not because of them.
If Dyche, who i really rate as a manager, thinks he sees something in wells that will work in the premier division, then fair play, hes put his money where his mouth is and time will tell.

Jeez, can't you give it a rest churning out the same rhetoric and conjecture now he's gone. Otherwise, I disagree with the only new point you're making. They play a different style to us, so even if he does prove successful at Burnley that doesn't necessarily prove Wagner wrong. You more than anyone would surely argue no matter how well he does elsewhere doesn't mean he would would replicate that form with us.

Theres 29 pages of this...I can't be the only one who's repeated themselves a bit!! Youre last point id agree with, but as per with wells it implies hes only capable of playing in limited systems . A top player ( a prem player) should be able to play well in various formations Whatever system he ends up playing in for whichever club, the basic skills of movement and finishing need to be there, and its those that i judge him on ( and wagner too Id imagine) . Way too much stock is put on systems... a good player is a good player... a good finisher is a good finisher.. whether hes playing in a 442 or a 451 or a 4231 or whatever.

He's a good player to bring on late on to harry defenders with his pace and energy, it's just if that late chance fallls to him- will he bury it? History tells us it's unlikely. Having said that I noticed that Wood had at least 2 other sighters before his debut goal so maybe Wells will get more than the odd chance to score. I expect teams to progress defensively as we go though.
