Passing - Woeful Ball retention - Woeful Giving the ball away in dangerous areas - Excellent Substitutions (timings) - terrible
Honestly, why start Lolley? It's only to put him in the shop window, so he scored a goal, but fuck me! Pritchard should be starting, never mind putting him on the bench. Football is a simple game, he doesn't need to watch for 65 minutes, he's match fit for Gods sake. Start him. Why wait until 65 minutes to make a substitution?!?! 4-1 down! No point at this stage. Gifted 2 goals and looked terrible. It's going to be a long remainder of the season unless things change. Embarrassing today. Poor all-round. I don't blame those fans that left before the 80th minute at all.

We’ve got a full back problem. If Wagner starts Smith next game, I’ll start believing Smiths got hold dodgy pictures. Got to be Flo and maybe Kongolo next game.
Pritchard looked promising. Definitely brings something different.
It’s still fun living the dream.

We are just a bit ponderous in possession. Sadly, when we take time to build from the back, our dangermen drop into the space behind the opposition’s press. This means Ince, Mooy and VLP often take the ball off the toes of our defenders - 50 yards from where they are most effective.
I don’t mind the defence keeping the ball, working it side to side to open space, but when we move forward we need to move it quick. Pick our time and go. We seemed wracked with indecision today and never got on the front foot.
Fair play to West Ham though. A great team effort and we couldn’t touch Lanzini and Arnautovic.

He started Lolley because Pritchard only joined yesterday, Sabiri doesn't look ready for this level, and we have nobody else. Pritchard looked interesting..looked to get involved but I think hes going to find the physical step a big struggle. Kongolo looked like he'd never seen a football before. Hopefully that was related to coming on late into a lost game...definitely wouldn't expect him to dislodge Zanka or Schindler any time soon.

There was no aggression or intent put in to anything today: on the ball, off the ball, in the stands, on the bench; anywhere. That was abysmal.

Noble ran the midfield, Hogg and Mooy couldn't get near him
Always thought he was a bit average before today but he was a step ahead of everyone in his mind and made our lads look a bit daft at times

our midfield was pretty pathetic. smith was hopeless. zanka was utter bab.
the gap between depoitre and the midfield was huge again.
all the players need a long hard look at themselves after that shite.

Hopefully that was related to coming on late into a lost game...definitely wouldn't expect him to dislodge Zanka or Schindler any time soon. ball retention going absolutely nowhere slowly finally bit us in the arse.. 30 odd minutes of absolutely nothing but square passes under no pressure and going nowhere.. we are very, very dull, very, very ineffective and whoever told them they would get as much time on the ball as they clearly believe, was fucking lying to them.. losing the ball turning circles or going backwards became the main theme of the day.. we look shit, we look slow and we carry no threat.. fucking about with it for no purpose at the back just adds to the nothingness of it all.. Wagner is never wrong, the facts though are stacking up against him.. we dont really make enough chances to spend a third of the game in our own half in possession of the ball.. yawn , occasionally broken up by a whopper of a dropped bollock leading to a break and a goal conceded.. said before dont mind losing, I mind being at home and having no more than 10 minutes in the 90 where we actually get enough ball forward and enough players up with it..

Big mention to arnautovic too, ran the line brilliant. If his general attitude was better he would be playing for a top 6 side all day

Does it really matter which thread it's in, ffs? ? Yeah it does really. Should I make a new thread for my views on West Ham as well? Imagine if everyone did that, it would be a difficult board to read wouldn’t it? Or maybe I’m missing something and the OP’s views are more important or something.

13th in the Premier League and we need an autopsy? 13th for now, how much longer? Hope I'm wrong but 3 points from the last 15 available might have sealed our fate especially with the run in we've got It makes the next 9 or 10 games absolutely crucial

Alluded to it in the other thread but after the previous West Ham game I wondered if we'd beat a team playing three at the back all season. We created literally nothing in that match and barely strung five passes together. Our system will always struggle with it because the wingers tend to be inverted and cut inside where it's massively congested. The onus is on the full-backs to provide the width but in this division where possession is much harder to come by it's difficult to get them that far up the pitch and when they do Flo has been the only one of the four who can put a decent ball in somewhat consistently. Not to mention that relying on the full-backs for that naturally leaves you open to counters which quality teams will lap up all day, as we've seen.
It is what it is, but the big thing that's changed for us since that game is actually getting a number 10 in to give us a chance of unlocking a packed defence. Due to all that I personally would've started Pritchard today if he'd literally only just walked in the door five minutes earlier. If he can't last the 90 and comes off on the hour then so be it. It's a bit of a gambit but the first goal is so crucial in setting the tone of the match.

13th in the Premier League and we need an autopsy? You seem to be basing your comment on league position. That's all very well but it doesn't give an accurate view on our likelihood to get relegated.

I must be blind, because retention of the ball was poor throughout. I don't care when Pritchard joined, the lad's match fit and should have started. It's football, not rocket science. What did he learn in 65 minutes of sitting on the bench that made him ready to come on?

We got into this position due to our "terrier spirit". If we don't find it again then we will be going back down to the Championship.

Normally hate knee jerk reactions but oh that was poor. In our system we need good full backs - at prem level we haven't got any! Smiths a lucky man to be playing imho and Malone not good enough. When you add to that our key men being off it (mooy in particular was poor...hogg...schindler...zanka)and you get what we got....nowt!!! Depoitre put a good shift in but much to ponder for next sat for the manager.

..and to put the tin lid on a wonderful afternoon's entertainment, I had 3 guffawing Leeds fans in the seats behind me to put up with I showed them the score on my phone when Ipswich scored though and that shut em up a bit.

Couple of things which I noticed;
• mooy would pass then move next to the person he had passed to, cutting down their options and space.
• mooy Would ignore Pritchard in space then carry the ball near to him (congesting the area) then play it to him.
• Pritchards set pieces were ten times better than others we have had
• Malone was running into the box at every opportunity leaving us vulnerable at the back
• there seems to be a belief that we can only turn into an attack if we are camped on the edge of their area, rather than look to cut through them.

I still think we need to play Hogg Mooy and Williams all in the same team, allowing Hogg to sit and one of Mooy or Williams to break forward. No point keep playing 3 out of VLP, ince, Lolley, Kachunga and Quaner. None are good enough.
Pritchard will change this dynamic but I would still play a more solid midfield as we are just getting cut open.
