Club Brugge sees 12 million euros slip through fingers The jumping off of Anthony Limbombe's transfer is also a blow to Club Brugge. Blue-black had a nice agreement with the English Huddersfield Town. There was an agreement about a transfer fee of 12 million euros. Especially English clubs are willing to pay such sums. Now that this transfer has failed, it is still difficult to sell Limbombe for the same amount. The transfer market in England already closes on 9 August. Huddersfield was tired of the unrealistic demands of Limbombe and blew the whole deal himself. Limbombe ultimately wanted a higher salary than the club could afford, according to Het Nieuwsblad. voetbal24.be/news/40265/club-brugge-ziet-12-miljoen-euro-door-vingers-glippen

Money was obviously the crucial factor for the player/agent and there was an attempt to squeeze as much out of DH and the club as possible. Fortunately DH is a Yorkshireman. If I was chairman, I'd hate to be taken for a ride by these mercenaries.

Our problem is Dean doesn't own Card Factory anymore meaning he can't throw in a lifetime's worth of Christmas cards into the deal.

He started off with comments in the media about not wanting to play in a team that would be in a relegation battle. Newsflash champ, unless you play in the top 6 in the PL or the top 4 in the Budesliga, you are in a relegation fight. It makes me question his character and if he wants to stay in a top team, stick to Belgium where you can be a top dog in a little pool. Then went on to say he would rather play in the Bundesliga. Fair enough can accept that, but when a number of PL clubs enquire about you because Town are linked, if they aren’t making offers you have a choice to make. Either shit or get off the pot. Delaying the deal only effects your preparations and Towns preparations in a league where every game counts and a point can be the difference between staying up or relegation. Finally, he’s been given the opportunity to play in the best league in the world, however, not every team pays like Manure. Changing management wasn’t going to change the offer Town put in for you. Shows he has no loyalty.

I don’t like to judge people based on second hand stuff on the internet. But this guy doesn’t sound like the right sort of character for our team. We’vegot a likeable group, brilliant teamspirit and a fantastic attitude. That’s what our success has been built on.
This guy sounds like he’s put money before his career development and seems to think he’s better than us. Fuck him off and move on, hope we’ve got someone else lined up.

All about negotiations. Don't blame the lad for trying. Brugge clearly want the money. If Town won'y budge Ball in their court to bung him a few quid to leave.

We’ll probably still end up getting him it’s just he’s trying to get his club a good deal. Anyway it’s friday today so a good chance we may get someone...

He's not the sort of player (or agent) we should be looking at. I think I'd be disappointed if he signed now, simply because of the way it may affect the whole dynamic.

Genuine question as I have no idea how this works. Who picks up the agents fees? Clubs have agreed, but player and agent not happy. So who pays for the time spent negotiating this deal if it falls through as football works in a wonderess way.

Got my posts ready for when we finally find out whats happening.
OPTION 1 - Great signing, just what we need, will rip defences apart, welcome to HTFC.
OPTION 2 - Absolute arrogant twat, not the type we want here, so glad we didn't sign the greedy twat.

Bollocks to him if he wants too much money.
It's not like he's a megastar of world football. The vast majority of fans in England won't have ever heard his name before.
There will be other options.

OPTION 3 - sign someone else: The Limb transfer saga went on far too long, glad we've finally signed a different first XI attacking option. Well done Town OPTION 4 - No signing / none which will make the first XI: The Limb transfer saga went on far too long. Why did we put all our eggs in one basket? We look very light in attacking areas

A Club with our finances cannot afford to get carried away and get involved in a 'wages auction' with other Clubs that is likely to be driven by a greedy agent that could end up with us breaking a wages structure (not that we would I am sure) . Nor should we.
It sounds like it is failing to get over the line on Personal terms and if that's the case, move on, we don't want him (or his greedy agent) anywhere near us.

Agree - the key is let's get something sorted before the season starts But given all now seem to believe everything in the press now (accept there will be some truth in it) was there a negative reaction to Durm when we signed him given similar press stories.... If he signs I'm sure it would all be positive Either way it doesn't get passed the point we need more quality in the final third in the first XI (squad better accepted but weaker options at 10)

The last thing we need is someone who doesn't really want to be here... We cannot afford bad apples in the squad as our strength is based on unity and working hard. It doesnt mean he'd not be committed if in the end he ends up here...for all we know he's very interested but also very interested by another clubs interest I'm sure a young professional athlete given a PL move, plenty of money, and a shop window wouldnt sit and sulk. He must have held some interest for us to get seemingly quite far on the deal - could just be both sides playing hardball Still think this might happen

Exactly, we applaud Dean for driving a hard bargain and condemn the player and agent for trying to drive a hard bargain. It's negotiation.
Like when you're selling a house, you want as much as you can get, they want to pay as little as they can. Sometimes you reach an impasse or one sides bluff get's called.
Didn't something similar happen with Durm?
