The way this is playing out I have a sneaky suspicion he may end up looking very silly when both clubs get bored of his demands and piss taking. What's the betting he ends up in limbo; not training with Brugge but with no new club. Its happened to players and agents before when they try to take the piss. It may well back fire, would be good to see TBH. I was hopeful we'd sign him but heard enough to think it's probably not a good idea.

It looks as though DW has really prioritised the need for another winger, so I'd expect a deal of some kind to be done before the 9th, maybe at the last minute.

It's usually pretty dull for us town fans. Cue reminders of Ishmael Miller, Kallum Higginbotham and Mark Hudson under the lights.

Goes to show that agents can make or break your career just as much as how a player performs on the pitch. The original article is behind a paywall, but here’s a website reporting on the article. 'Nightmare scenario for Limbombe, Club drops price drastically Anthony Limbombe had hoped for a World Cup selection this summer, to be able to make a nice transfer afterwards. But due to an injury he did not go to Russia and his hoped transfer will remain off for the time being. On the day that the summer mare closes in England, it is even questionable whether his transition will come anyway this summer. According to Het Nieuwsblad, a nightmare scenario is currently under way for the winger. Every time a foreign club became concrete, problems surfaced. A transition to Huddersfield seemed in the making, but a discussion about his salary threw a spanner in the works. In addition, a number of brokers wanted to get their share of their money and so Limbombe was offered at clubs by various representatives he did not even know. As a result, his reputation was seriously damaged and interested teams were deterred. Meanwhile, the player placed his fate in the hands of broker agency Base Soccer, which has the necessary connections in England. But a few hours before the closing of the deadline, no Premier League club seems to be reached by pushing. Alternative slopes are now being sought in Germany, Spain and France. Club Brugge would have drastically lowered its asking price in the meantime. While Limbombe still had to cost 15 million euros a few weeks ago, the national champion is currently asking for around 10 million euros. Blauw-Zwart already has a suitable replacement with Arnaut Groeneveld and let Limbombe train individually in anticipation of his transfer. www.voetbalnieuws.be/news/322021/nachtmerriescenario-voor-limbombe-club-laat-prijs-drastisch-zakken

A nice saving on the transfer fee then for Dean & Dave.....that 5m euros could help us give him a little extra in wages....everyone is a winner You just never know. Good find that. Fits with what We spoke about. He wags demands were the issue for us and his holding out to see what else there was. We drew a line in the sand and moved on. Would we do the deal now? Who knows... his club will be worried that they won’t move him on, they’ve already replaced him so are paying two wages, he’s clearly wanting out so would he be a disruptive influence? I could see club bruge dropping their price further. This article has probably come from them to try and get the message out there. It would be tempting for DW & DH to finally get their man and at a cut price. But at what cost? Would it be worth it? Would he be truely satisfied to come here or would it be last resort feeling? Has he shown his ego and nature to be something undesirable?

Looking at the various highlight videos, out of Diakhaby, Mbenza and Limbombe, it's the latter that has the best/most consistent final ball. And that is what we need.

Was it £125k A WEEK he was asking for at Newcastle ? We'd never be anywhere near half that amount no matter what the transfer fee is...It's not just about the outlay but about keeping the squad happy and in a structured pay scale...Having said that I don't know how much the individual bonuses were that were paid out for a) promotion and b) retention of PL status...so it's possible some players received quite hefty lump sums..which might take the equivalent weekly wage quite a bit higher ? Not sure if that is a route we can sell to Limbombe.

Limbombe himself might be quite a decent lad ?
He may well have had his head turned by a chancer agent who promised him all kinds of unrealistic crap.
I wonder if we'd still be interested ? Given that his club now have a replacement, they may need to get rid at a price lower than we agreed to pay. We obviously can't go breaking our wage structure - but if they were to give him a golden goodbye that could mean a better overall deal for him ?

Read up on deregulation of representatives after oti posted something on a thread. Seems like a lot of players are putting their trust in the wrong people. Wouldn't surprise me if players higher up the chain are affected too.

Limbombe had a chance to come to us and show what he had to offer in the premiership, but by the looks of it put money first so maybe he was not right for us. Now rumoured to be interesting Nantes in France for a knock down fee of around 8m euros if reports are to be believed.

Now rumoured to be interesting Nantes in France for a knock down fee of around 8m euros if reports are to be believed. a 'messenger' told me that the lad wanted to be top earner at the club.. it wasn't a fortune above the agreed terms(in football money) but we pay the rate we believe is right for that player and in line with the other first team squad members.. we seem to go with the squad being reasonably happy rather than paying a bit more..One happy chappy or a few disgruntled team mates?? you would have to be the 'one' for us to go down that line I think, and its clear he wasn't prized that highly.. There are players who have been bandied about as potential loanees for us who are on big, big money and its much easier to sell to the rest of the squad the requirement to pay those kind of wages rather than to give in to demands from a player like Limbombe???

Gone to Nantes for €7mil. Perfect example of a player/agent fucking themselves and the selling club over by being greedy bastards.
At Nantes he won't be on a fraction of what he was offered here, and he gets to play in a far lesser division to boot.
Silly bastard.
