Hi everyone, My name’s Tom and I’m currently studying a masters degree in Sports Psychology in Newcastle with the hope in becoming an applied Sports Psychologist in a football setting. For my thesis I am looking into the home advantage in football and how fans view themselves. I was hoping that I could post my questionnaire link here to get as many answers as possible? Please feel free to share far and wide as the more answers I get the better results I get and I have the hope of being published! northumbria.onlinesurveys.ac.uk/football-fan-survey It shouldn’t take any longer than 10 minutes to do and all the information is in the link before you have to answer any questions. Thank you! Tom Short

Not much point asking Town fans about home advantage; we've certainly not seen it at our ground this season, although several dodgy decisions gone in favour of the home team when we've played away.

It's unfortunate that decisions like that are made and then left to stew on it all season, most of the people I have spoken too on here feel the exact same way

Personally I feel the quality of players is more important than home advantage - ask Man City.

It's interesting because all the background info seems to point towards fans and familiarity but when the fans are passionate yet not performing well there's not much explanation. I went to watch Sunderland play a few times 2 seasons ago when they were still in the Prem and while the fans were singing for 90 minutes we know how that ended up for them

If you come up with any revelatory ideas on sports psychology Tom, be sure to let Herr Siewert know...

It might not be groundbreaking stuff I find but I might try and convince him to take me on, what's the worst that could happen....?

When I was at secondary school all those years ago (4th Year not the new fangled Year 10) I got a Maths homework that was about probability:
“Mathematically, all football matches will result in a win for the home team as probability states that home advantage will always result in an advantage, therefore all teams will have a 50:50 result win/lose probability”
Stupidly my young 15 year old self agreed with the hypothesis; Mr Smith, with irony and a little bit of exasperation explained why I was a complete idiot!

Hello again!
Just want to say thank you for all the support again. I'm into the last couple of days collecting data and the help has all been great. I've got some amazing data to work with and couldn't have been done without you all.
Thanks again, Tom
