Overhead kick, on the run, twisting and adjusting my body mid air, connecting beautifully and going in the top corner with the keeper rooted.
Greenhead Park, around 1990, after a full afternoon session in The Junction.
OK, the top corner bit is bullshit; everything else is Gospel.

I played on Saturday morning for the first time in 18 years. Opposing me was Delroy Facey. Despite being on the left wing i only got in the opposition box once the whole match...we got mullered. Think i have cracked a rib and two days later i am walking like John Wayne. Once scored a superb diving header in a charity match at the McAlpine....hit a screamer volley another time for the Royal Swan in the Sunday league, we lost 7-1. I was rubbish.

I think that my 11-a-side career had more own goals than goals in the correct end and I’m certain there were more dismissals than either of these.

I once scored a bicycle kick from near the penalty spot in training when I played for Stile Common U16's. Digyourselfdeeps dad was coach, he disallowed it because it was in a game where you had to be in the 6 yard box to score 😡.
Although I did score one similar to Frank Worthingtons GoS for Bolton in my final junior sunday league game, at Wyke, as part of a hat trick

30 yard belter for school aged 10. I retired shortly after that. End on a high an all that.

Never really saw the best one I scored. Went for a cross that was going behind me at about chest level with a diving header. All I heard was the clunk of the bar, which the ball hit on the way in, before getting a face full of mud. It must have looked decent though as even the oppo's touchline applauded it.

Pre match warm up for the school team, under 14s iirc, unleashed an absolute thunderbolt from about 25 yards. Straight in the top corner, inch perfect, don't think the keeper even saw it and the way I remember it Ben Hamer would have had to do one of his half dives after the net had already bulged.
In the actual match I was shit, as usual.

At a Wheelwright Grammar School game in Dewsbury, I, yes me, me, me, me, me, fired in a shot from just outside the area that thundered into the top corner of the net. Goalie tried, but couldn't get close. It was a classic game between North and West - mid-seventies it was - and even today I have to restrain myself as to how good it actually was!!

I scored a belter for Lindley Junior School against St Patrick's. Beat two or three lads and dinked it over the keeper from a tight angle 👌🏻.
Probably one of my last "competitive" games though, as I realised when I got to high school that I was as soft as shit and also shit at football.

Overhead kick from 25 yards into an empty net of course! It was widely regarded by those lucky enough to be there as the best goal ever scored of all time, ever. My second best was a header from a corner from about 3 yards out. Not quite as good even though there was a keeper in the way for that one.

Sunday morning league, down sands lane against new inn churwell, scarpered up the right wing leaving their defenders in my wake, keeper came out and left a space for me to coolly slot in at an angle, i lived off it for ages.... i had to.

All Saints High School , middle pitch next to the 6th form common room, I'm at right back on the half way line, ball is cleared to me and i go to hoof it back towards our centre forward, i catch it sweet as a nut and it flies like an arrow into the top left corner of the goal. Complete fluke.
I also scored a perfect hat trick (left foot, right foot, header) for Mirfield United 3rds in the District League in my first game back after completing a cricket season for Mirfield CC. As it was my first game back, I wasnt signed on so played as a ringer - Alan Smith, I was and his name appeared in the Examiner. Never scored a hat trick since and never will I guess.

Inter-Works football match, our side from Bedfordshire v Nottingham works, scored a volley direct from a corner kick when I was loitering on the edge of the box. Never done it before, never did it since, but I knew it was a goal from the moment it left my foot!
Interesting game in other ways too - a broken leg, a broken arm and a dislocated shoulder......we never had inter-works games after that

As a keeper, my number was limited.
My best was a fairly windy day in u12s. Big kick out of my hands, 1 bounce and over the poor keeper's head at the other end. Quite a big pitch that day as well.

Sunday morning 20 yards away from goal, rose like a salmon getting my head to the ball watching it loop into the top corner keeper stranded, I'd scored a goal, wrong bloody net. On a more positive side played full back started level with own 18 yrd box past 4 players one two on edge of opposition 18 yrd box into area curled ball into far corner, quality. even my team mates checked to see if I was a ringer.

A tap-in from 4 yards out. Consolation for New College 3rds in a 4-1 defeat away at Barnsley College.
Also the only goal ever scored outside of a game of cuppies.

Canute Clarke, and a few more of his ilk. Happy Hampshire driving around dragging his players out of bed from all over, supposedly. Still wasn't as good as Battyeford though, but hey ho

Dalton Dynamos U11's at home v Drighlington.
My first ever goal, over head kick from 25 yards, had a rough idea where the ball was, leant back, looked directly into the sun and volleyed what resembled a ball of flames into the top bag.
Examiner got my name wrong in the paper, I was devastated.

The last goal I scored back in 1998 before I hung my boots up was playing for a RAF & Army team v Royal Navy on Italian turf. It was an overhead kick from just outside the box that flew in. Could I imagine Mbenza or Quaner scoring one similar? The answer to that is a comprehensive no!
