Almondbury Rec, half/volley just inside halfway line turned & whacked it flew over keepers (Bay Ath.) head, my best header (bullet) was at Golcar cross from Lloyd Maitland, who was a great crosser of a ball. Although, when I played against Bobby Campbell, I never saw anyone head a ball with so much power...awesome!

Golcar Utd 3rds v marsden
I’d just been sick on the lad(sheep shagger)who was marking me puma kings while waiting for a dead ball to be hoofed out,I’d gone out on a Friday night again and NOT had a steady one.
I was asking puma kid lad to not run about as much as a I was knackered but then the ball dropped.
Dropped on the over turned leather tongue of my mitre boots. I spun and left my man on half way line and skipped past another clueless cuckoo and dinked it to our forward who laid it off for me.
WACK!!!! On volley from 23/40 yards out straight down middle of goal and in off bar.....the subs and managers were impressed and clapped And I did the ‘sub me’ sign.

School First XI in 1995 against Oswestry in FA Independent Schools Cup ( i think) defending a corner CB heads it out. I break down the left wing. 2v1 against keeper. keeper starts to come out. I look up. See our striker 20/30 yards away in open space. Simple cross field ball for a tap in..... Completely shanked it. Lobbed keeper from 35 yards and nestled in top corner.

there's 2 goals that I scored that stick in my memory...the first was for hepworth engineering (as was) away somewhere...Their goalie had passed the ball out to his CB who then sliced an upfield pass to me near the halfway line, on the left wing as I was dawdling back from my centre forward position...without even thinking I took the ball forward maybe 10 yards then 'flicked' it with the outside of my right boot and the ball sailed wonderfully some 35 yards over the stranded goalies head into the back of the net... Even the ref said 'good goal that lad' ...
the second one was in a district leage cup tie for David Brown Athletic reserves , (7th division side) against Brackenhall Utd (1st division) up at Moor End. We were onviously massive underdogs but after about 5 minutes I received a through pass just inside their half..ran about 10 yards and then hearing the thundering boots of their defenders closing in on me hit the ball with my (wrong) left foot..30 yards out at least....I think their keeper was a guy called Cannon but he had no chance as this shot curled and swerved into the top corner....It was a belter..we were 1--0 up..the fans went wild (all 20 of them)... We did lose though..7-1 I think...

Way back, playing for the Rose and Crown Almondbury, My mate crossed hard and low,I hit it full volley about a foot of the ground, flew straight in {no nets in them days}and across the next field, goalie never saw it,took him 5 minutes top get it back.I was playing left wing, scored 3 that morning. No scouts watching!

My childhood revolved around Ambry rec, spent a good percentage of my life playing footie in the goal area closest to the cemetery.
