Derby looked utter shit for 75% of their tie then put a great 2nd half performance in at ER. Villa had a good half in the 1st leg, but barely threatened apart from that. I think it's way too tight to call. It depends which of the 2 sides shows up. I can see it being a pretty dull affair tbh. No matter how dull it is it won't be dull if you are from derby or the claret side of brum. I bet we didn't create 8 chances in the Mansfield Sheffield and Reading games combined ! but who cares The only one of our play-off finals I'd want to go back and watch again as a neutral would be the Bristol Rovers one. That was a cracking game with two of the best young English players at the time in Boothy and Marcus Stewart.

Cannot believe Ian Hollowhead is comentating for Talkshite - just have to watch Four In A Bed on TV instead. I don't think I have heard a guy talk so much shite in my life.

I remember my disappointment in Boothy leaving being offset in getting Stewart due to watching that performance.

Both teams playing in slow motion and passing backwards at every opportunity
Its like watching a pre season friendly

A Booth Stewart partnership would have been immense, if only for one season.

They did actually play together once; in one of those 5 a side Masters game with retired players. They weren't very good to be fair and I think Tiwn went out in the first round but I agree if those 2 had been up front together I doubt we would ever see a better strike partnership at Tiwn.

Seeing all the build up to this game, seeing it dubbed as the most important game in world football. Thinking about how the Derby or Villa fans will feel if they get turned over. And how excruciating it will be for them if it goes to penalties. Scarcely credible that two years ago this was us. It still feels totally surreal to me . How the hell we did it I'll never know . An amazing day like no other I think Villa's experience from last year plus the fact they have a 50m + footballer in their team will see them win comfortably.. but it's the play offs and as we've shown time and again anything can happen . £50m+ player? He did okay for us - no more - but I'm not sure Jed Steer's worth that much.

Pritchard to Villa if they go up? I wouldn't have thought there would be a cat in hells chance they would want him . Can't see him going to a premier side based on his performances for us

Congratulations to Villa, but looking at the league table they won five less games than we did the year we went up, and gained five less points. I don't believe Villa spent any time in the top two like we did either. I wonder if everyone will go on about how lucky they are to get promoted like they did when we went up?
Of course not, Villa are a so-called 'big club', and they - crucially - had a positive goal difference. Which we all know is far more important than games won, and points gained.

Was a good game after half time i thought. Not a lot in it. Some lousy keeping by the derby goalie was the difference.
Couldn;t understand why Derby didn;t start with Marriot. Looked a great little player when he came on just like he did at Leeds in the semi.

Villa were better start to finish, I'd have just about anyone off their team in the town squad. Their midfield 3 would be a very soft touch in the top tier though

Villa will 'move on' from here, we on the other hand were just happy to be 'there' etc etc.. the after match bollox will totally ignore that Derby have spent fortunes in recent years to get up.. Personally I didnt mind who scraped their way up this year as both The Blades and Norwich were better without spending the same as a small country, this will also be ignored somewhat by the 'experts'..

What's the more grating is it wasn't just the media and opposition fans. The usual suspects on here and a few others started to use this as a stick to undermine the achievement and Wagner in particular the minute things started to go pear shaped. Poor form.

Well I got the result all wrong (not for the first time) ,well done to Villa , it will be interesting to see how they compete in the premier league. I should really pack in this tipping lark , strangely all 5 horses I backed at Redcar yesterday all lost too!
