Swapped some PMs with Richard a few years back after we both realised that I’d been a customer of his.
Seemed a good man that had lived a rich and varied life and still had plenty to give. Thoughtful, intelligent. The world and this forum will be a poorer place with his passing.

Richard played right back for Heckmondwike Grammar School and I was a left winger for Batley Grammar School. It is likely we played against each other. Ironic that we both went into the same industry and became good friends years later.

RIP Goodshot. As others have said, he was a poster who I'd always stop to read as I could be sure of a reasoned and well rounded view. Sounds like he was a good bloke.

Really sad to read that Goodshot has passed away. His posts were always a worthwhile read and created the impression that he was a really good man who was also very knowledgeable on any number of subjects.
Reading the posts on this thread only support that opinion.
Thoughts are with Goodshot's family and those who were close.
RIP Goodshot

Very sad to hear this news. I had noticed that his postings had stopped during the last year and wondered why. We swapped a few PM's about our memories of Heckmondwike before we both moved out. RIP Richard and condolences to his family and friends.

I met Goodshot (Richard) only three times over the years - at Brentford, Ipswich and and Watford. But it was enough to match the man himself with his sharp and perceptive comments on here and other Town forums. Richard was a clever man professionally who was equally at home arguing the toss with geological precision about a lousy refereeing decision. He was also great company at matches. Interesting that he played for Heckmondwike GS. Somebody else on here played for Batley GS. I played against them both for Honely GS - though probably a bit earlier. Fond memories.... RIP Goodshot.

I don't come on here often, but pop by every now and then to see the weird and wonderful world of DATM, and whenever I do, I always come across sad news like this. I didn't know goodshot, but it's a name I recognise, and he was a well respected poster. He will be sadly missed from this board. RIP.
