With a recent takeover of our own with Phil taking the helm and an imminent takeover up at Newcastle.
Which would you of preferred? An honest Town fan who on paper doesn't have the biggest of assets to chuck into the club OR an Arab billionaire with a bottomless wallet?
There are arguments to both sides, interested to hear your thoughts.

This is like Brexit - a binary vote when it's not quite that 😄 I'd highly likely go for the fan, but they need a certain level of wealth behind them and also depends if Phil ends up using the club's own revenue to buy DH out or pay back his loans.

Time will tell.
I’m most at ease with a wealthy town fan, than a foreign billionaire though.

And with that are you accepting: 1) your ST may potentially quickly double in price and 2) there's increased scope for the club going completely tits up, if immediate success isn't found and the owner gets bored? Not questioning your choice, just seeing whether you are accepting two of the obvious risks that go with it.

Can we have a billionaire Arab who just happens to be a lifetime town fan option?

Billionaire all day long.. as long as he / she has the best interests of the club at heart. The "fan" bit doesn't really bother me tbh. We've had plenty of fans who've presided over mediocrity

The owners of Man City have done wonders not only for the club but the stadium and the surrounding area/Manchester itself. Think of the impact to the local economy, employment, etc. they've created both temporarily and permanently through all that work.
Not all billionaire owners are bad, you just need one with an interest in making the club and everything around it great - be it for genuine reasons (as a fan or out of love of the game) or simply to improve their reputation/promote their own self interest (or their country's).

I voted for supporter of the club ownership but if it could be a 50/50 split, then that would be interesting.

Why specifically an Arab billionaire? Because, to some, that represents everything they fear.

The last time we were asked to believe didn't work out that well. can't follow Town without 'believing'..... we did have a bit of a result only a couple of years ago... mainly down to 'belief' and not to billionaires and spending like a man with no arms..

Are we bothered about Sports washing? Yes! Fuck them, they can keep their dirty money. I’m all up for a Billionaire taking over, but I do have standards.

For all the potential pitfalls of a faceless mega rich owner taking over, wouldnt it just be nice once in DATM's history to have a transfer speculation thread where every other post isn't some scoffing 'you must be on drugs we couldn't afford his wages' or similar knee jerk.

Think the fan of the club edges it for me. The money will come and go, but you'd like to think a lifelong fan, with a good business brain would have a longer effect on the club. Sheikh Mansour buying Man City was as much about buying into the city as it was about buying the club. Just look at the land they have bought up around East Manchester.
It's belittling to say we are a different proposition, some would say modest.
Those that have voted billionaire, do you think Dean Hoyle has got it wrong and if so do you think it's bad judgement?

Comparisons with Man City are perfect.
The'yve pumped money in, brought success to the club etc, but it all feels a bit corporate & soulless. HTFC - whatever division we're in - is OUR club. I'd rather support Halifax Town than Man City.
