We had all sorts of compliments from the BBC commentators regarding the skill levels of the Japanese players, small, quick, nimble. I can imagine what was going through their heads, "I musn't say nippy, I mustn't say nippy".

I was watching the Lionesses rather than the Scots but did the VAR check for encroachment on the retake seeing as it missed the French doing so when they got a retake |

The introduction of goalline technology was a no brainer, but VAR merely produces more opportunities for more human error.
Please can someone pull the plug on the whole idea before it's too late.

I look forward to the VAR debate continuing next season. It won't stop contentious decisions being made (nor selective bias), but the media and fans can't have it both ways. Berate the officials when they've clearly got a decision wrong because those people have the benefit of slow motion replays, numerous angles, whereas the Ref has 2 eyes, 2 ears & a split second to make a decision. Yet when they do get the chance to make an equally informed decision it's a load of crap.
Make your minds up folks...
It's not the technology that's the problem, it's how it gets used that it needs to be judged against. If it starts to correct the bias that's so bleeding obvious then it can only be a good thing...

It was supposed to stop obvious match changing errors. Now we have clowns in referee replica shirts in a caravan destroying the game with decisions down to millimetres without any come back. Thank fuck we don't have it next season. |

They try and make this tournament a serious football event, then you have the blatant match rigging in the france game, and now that comedy.
Meanwhile they lie about the stadium in the england game being half full!
I doubt it was a fifth full... even porky doing the commentary picked up on that bullshit.
VAR seems to be basically about getting more decisions right whilst ruining the game to do it.
