Apparently if this weather system had hit in January we'd have had 3ft if snow with drifting.

It's all to do with CO2 emissions. If we have a wet summer this is caused by CO2. If we have a hot summer this is caused by CO2. This winter was particularly snow-free in Scotland and was caused by CO2. Last winter was very cold in the north of Scotland and was caused by CO2.

Also riding my bike home from work in a fog so thick I had cars following me{I could shift in those days} Don,t know how they went on when I turned off Wakefield Rd onto the Teddington Ave estate.

We need more global warming. It’s not happening anywhere near fast enough for me. I’m not bothered what happens after I’m dead but id like a few proper summers in UK before I go.

We do need a first and totally verifiable sighting of an alien to take the pressure off.. or even God(whichever one you prefer showing himself/herself or themselves if they are non binary???

Don't expect Roger Haribo, Greta Thunberg, or any of the other warmists to give it a mention though.

Once you'd turned off they probably batted on at a frightening lick!

My mother has a group picture of the family taken in 47 when they had been clearing the snow in Marsden. I did not notice immediately but when you look down at their feet you can see the top of the old gas lamp post.
Apparently you did not clear the path of snow but they had to dig a tunnel to the road.

That was my problem with the final Avengers film; Thanos was arguably doing the right thing wiping out half the human race 😄

I can't say i remember the 47 one, infant school round about 1950, teachers gave us the afternoon off to go sledging on the hill at the back of Lockwood Voluntary school.

I remember we made a really long ice slide in the playground at Oakes Junior in 62. Great fun but health and safety would kill that these days.

I remember we made a really long ice slide in the playground at Oakes Junior in 62. Great fun but health and safety would kill that these days. I retired from junior school teaching in 2013 but for years before that the kids were banned from making slides on the playground and the caretaker had to apply salt to any potential skiddy patches. They weren't even allowed outside if it was remotely icy and instead would go stir crazy indoors every break time. The whole thing stemmed from a child being told by the teacher on duty NOT to make a slide, and then being told off yet again once he had tested it a few times; lo and behold, he continued to defy the teacher and eventually went arse over tit and broke his front teeth. The parents sued the school and won, this in spite of the child having been told not to do it. The court backed the parents in that the incident shouldn't have been allowed to develop and that the clearly defiant child couldn't be held responsible. Yep, that's the way we're going, folks...

I only know about 1947 from tales that my grandparents told .Their daughter was living in Lockwood ,newly born first grandchild. Grandad got from Turnbridge with fuel and helped to clear away the snow which had reached over top of the door . Grandad was a Navvie and as unable to work they had to clear the roads instead .

So bloody sad not allowing kids to be kids and do what kids enjoy .I loved sledging ,sliding etc etc .Had many a bump .Even broke my ankle sliding .It didn't do me much harm .
