I recommend to anyone that never saw Finney and Matthews to have a look on youtube...you will be amazed. Shankly and Charlton have both said Finney was the best they ever saw...that is some commendation.

Couldnt post as i have had a week holiday on here.
I see some peoples G.O.A.T has flopped again on the international stage. How many has he scored? 1.......a penalty.
They will probably get dicked by Chile tonight too, just to top it off.

Why aren't George Best and Johan Cruyff among the names from which to choose?

If we are to sing week in week out that we are the greatest team in football the world has ever seen then it can only be Super Col

Iād be surprised if even one of them said champions league. My thoughts too. You can live forever being a World Cup winner, ask Geoff HurstHang on - he's not just a WC winner; he's still the only man ever to score a hat-trick in a WCF and that makes him special. He can - and rightly does - dine out on that for the rest of his life. And he's English to boot!

Just watched that Hand of God documentary on ITV4 (or something). A few things still astound me: Hoddle blatantly fouled before Diegoās second, Steve Hodge claiming he had played a perfect backpass for the opener (seriously, with a straight face) and, above all, how Shilton still always escapes any blame.
Also saw the new Maradona documentary at the cinema a week or so ago, about his time in Naples (note the club, who had previously won nothing nor since). Case closed.

One of the most overrated goalkeepers ever. Never got anywhere near any penalties and his shot-stopping ability was negligible. He must have had some incriminating photographs of successive England managers.

As a kid I used to laugh at MOTD every week as they said āitās not often you see him beaten from that distanceā as he watched another forty-yarder sail into the corner.

Greenwood used to alternate him and Clemence. He was better than Clemence until around 1985 Clemence invented modern ball distribution and was also a great keeper. Shilton retired in the England open-top bus at Luton in 1990...he was long shot and cost us the world cup in Italy for sure. He was magical at Stoke and Forest (European cup winner). Saw him let in 6 for Soton at Spurs in 82...he had just signed there.

Oh, Clemence was class alright. We led the world in keepers for 100 years.....no doubt about it. I have mates who have said Matthews, Finney, Mannion, Wright etc were rubbish...they are all wrong. Class is class no matter the period. The only keepers i ever saw better than Shilton were Zoff and the imperious Jennings (perhaps Schmeichel)....too young for Yashin Jennings could keep today...a man mountain. Shilton 125 caps....Clemence 65. Clough said Shilts was the main reason they won the league and the European cup and that will do for me. I do recall Lineker favouring Clemence over Shilts but Shilts was shot by then. Met the big man when he was manager of Plymouth...thick as a brick.

Some peopleās G.O.A.T ended Copa America in 3rd place. Scored one penalty all tournament and got sent off after 37 minutes tonight. What a shithouse on the international stage
