2 year contract. £13 million. Crazy business. That’s my last comment, not derailing the thread.

2 year contract. £13 million. Crazy business. That’s my last comment, not derailing the thread. Seems to be a bit of currency confusion with Isaac. The potential total obligation to buy was documented at closer to £11m, and that would be a total package value met via Premier League survival, appearances etc etc. Wouldn’t be that surprised if the deal works out closer to £8m or less at this time, which is reasonable going for a 23 year old Belgian U21 international with 150+ career appearances including 50+ in Ligue 1 with 11 goals (and I guess 20 EPL appearances). History shows it tends to take a year or two to adapt to the English game after playing in France.

Had heard from a reasonable reliable source the quoted fees are way off, closer to £5m at this stage.

I suspect at the end of this season he'll either be getting a new contract, or a new club, depending on his and our performances.

Even at £8 million you would think we would tie down an asset for longer as he will be a free transfer in 2 years.

That would add up...he was a sub €2m a couple of years ago, so real market value is probably around £4-£5m now..

Having seen him play, id say it should still be sub 2m.
I haven't given up on him yet, but just from what hes looked like so far, we've well and truly had our pants pulled down on this signing IMO.

Updated squad below.
I've asterisked the English/Home Grown players. Loan players are in italics. Club Developed Players are underlined.
Goalkeepers
Joel Coleman* Ben Hamer* Ryan Schofield* Kamil Grabara*
Central Defenders
Tommy Elphick* Mathias Jørgensen Christopher Schindler Jon Gorenc Stanković (also DM) Rarmani Edmonds-Green
Full backs
Florent Hadergjonaj Demeaco Duhaney* Jaden Brown* Herbert Bockhorn Terence Kongolo
Central Midfielders
Juninho Bacuna Philip Billing* Reece Brown* Jonathan Hogg* Aaron Mooy* Abdelhamid Sabiri Matty Daly* Lewis O'Brien*
Attacking midfielders/wingers
Alex Pritchard* Rajiv van La Parra Adama Diakhaby Elias Kachunga Isaac Mbenza
Strikers
Karlan Grant* Josh Koroma* Steve Mounié Collin Quaner
It's worth noting that under the rules for the coming season we need to include one Club Developed Player on the team sheet.
A Club Developed Player is defined as a player who joined a club before the start of the season where he turned 19 years old. He cannot count as a Club Developed Player unless he joined by, or before, that date and has been at a club for a year - so we couldn't sign a player now who turns 19 this year and have him neet this requirement.

So not many in that list then Grim? If I've understood it correctly.

So not many in that list then Grim? If I've understood it correctly. As it stands I believe Billing, Schofield, O'Brien, Duhaney (possibly - joined Aug 17, 2018 and turned 19 in October) Matty Daly. Jaden Brown does not qualify. To be clear, they don't have to play - can be an unused sub, and if you don't name one you're limited to 6 subs, not 7. In think we'll be ok. I've underlined them in my previous post.

Who's the lad who's played in Austria that apparently impressed? Edmonds-Green? Probably safe to include him if Kongolo will predominantly be used at LB
