We don't have £3.1m though, unless someone leaves. The young Bournemouth keeper, on loan at Wimbledon last season, seems about right. If we can't afford £3m after 2 years in the greedy league we may as well pack it in Yes all the playing, management and support staff will continue to work for nothing..... failing promotion the club's revenue stream will fall drastically in the next three years compared to the previous two... contingencies are required....

Struggling with the first bit, anything on target went in with Ward in goal and his reading of a game was laughable. Good job he can save pens. That's not quite how I remember it ... I was surprised Liverpool for that fee for ward but he was miles in front of Coleman who is a league one keeper Tbh I think Ward is League 1 too, he couldn't catch, didn't come off his line, didn't command his box and I've never seen a keeper as bad at judging when to come out as sweeper. Whoever got Leicester to part with £12m is a genius

Are the two Southampton want to get rid of too expensive for us? Could we get them on loan? Would they come?

The evidence seems to suggest that the keeper is not quite as important as we thought. Either that, or Ward was actually much better than his detractors claim.

It does beg the question why didn't DH sell at the top of the market when we were in the PL and could have got the sort of owner that might have made a serious investment in the club, instead of when we've been relegated and our market value and attractiveness has plummeted. Maybe because he spent half the season at death's door in hospital. Just a thought. Er, but he sold the club during the period he was ill?

It's simple
Didn't want to sell. Got iill. Really ill.
Felt he had to. By then virtually guaranteed relegation.
This isn't difficult stuff to understand.

Ok so when you said he wasn't able to sell because he was at death's door, that was complete rubbish. Am glad this is simple stuff and not difficult to understand.

No - didn't arranged a sale while we were saleable at our peak (as another poster said) because he initially didn't want to and then was extremely ill - touch and go, might not make it ill. Arranged a sale during his recovery, by which time we'd gone from looking like an attractive prospect to looking like Jo Brand on a rough night. So, again, this is simple stuff and not difficult to understand

He's looked poor and very short of confidence. Goalkeeper required as a priority.

How you have managed to bring the fact that DH was ill into it, I have no idea.

Well that is one thing that you have got right Seriously, try listening to what is being said, and think it through, you might be able to bring the parts together to better understand the whole picture. It is genuinely not as simple as a buy/sell transaction on the stock market (especially with the benefit of hindsight).

He wanted to keep us. Then he got ill and decided life is more important, so started the process of selling, by which time we were fucked - obviously going down. Am I not typing English?

Gee fella - 1) DH had no reason to sell whilst he was healthy 2) Given that he was in a life threatening state he realised that if he died - his family would have to pick up the tragic pieces 3) So he made plans to sell the club to a person of a similar background PH 4) Hence relieving his family of a future burden in the event of him succumbing to his grave illness. The club's so called 'high' value at whatever time was and is irrelevant to his decision making....

So let me try to make it really clear cause you all seem to be missing the point. It's irrelevant why DH sold in the end, that's not what I'm talking about. All I'm asking is why didn't he sell when the value was high. The answer you have collectively decided to come up with is that he didn't want to. Brilliant, thank you.

I’m thinking JS might throw Schofield in,with Coleman and Hamer as backups.JS doesn’t seem frightened to give youngsters a go as he’s already introduced Daly,Rowe,Duhaney with Brown and Koroma sighed it’s looking like youth will be they way for us,which isn’t necessarily a bad thing. If we are going down this route then if we could finish top of the bottom half then that imo would be a hugely successful season.

If Hamer hasn't been training with the first team and hasn't travelled to Austria then the assumption is that he's not in Siewert's plans at all and expected to move on elsewhere. If this happens then we need an experienced proven goalkeeper coming in as no1 with Coleman and Schofield dropping to 2 and 3 in the pecking order. In fact it should happen whether Hamer goes or not. If we end up with 4 then send one out on loan for someone else to pay the wages.

Struggle to see the point of getting a keeper in on loan if they aren't proven. With Grabara and Ramsdale- why do another club's youth development for them by giving them their first experience at a competitive level when we've got Schofield, who actually kept Ramsdale out of an England under 20 place? Makes no sense to me for the club. If we're playing an unproven keeper lets play our own

A question mark for me until he plays a few games, like a few of the other younger signings really. A good keeper is vital for gaining some momentum, and can be the difference maker, like Lossl was in his first season.

I think he suits the song......
