When did Gullit and Berbatov play as defenders ? Gullit won the European Cup playing alongside Frank Rijkaard at the back. (No idea on Berbatov) Gullit and Rijkaard won consecutive European Cups at AC Milan but don't think either of them were playing at centre back in those games. As everyone knows, the Italians know nothing about defending when it comes to football. Guess that's why they played a couple of blokes called Baresi and Costacurta at centre back and some kid called Maldini at left back. Don't think Gullit played regularly at centre back until he went to Chelsea. |

Admit I had to google it, but apparently Berbatov played once alongside Michael Carrick at the back for Utd in a Carling cup game against Leeds in 2011. As far as I can tell, that was the one and only time. Fantastic player Berbatov. I imagine he could have played anywhere on the pitch and looked good, such was his touch and speed of thought.

Such a talented defender we have on our hands, criminal he's in this shit heap with us one of a few who i wouldst of begrudged a Premier League move, he's more than capable.
