Yes. It was a bog standard pass out to the wing. He cut inside, could have passed it to other players, picked out a free VLP who scored a cracker! How the feck is that not an assist? You clearly don’t like Colin, but fuck me if you can’t see that’s an assist, you’re puddled! I bet if Danny Ward had made the pass it’d have been an assist Danny Ward would have took it on himself and hammered it in.

Bit of a non event after the sending off. Town passing backwards and sitting far too deep
First 60 was decent though, dominated the ball without creating too many chances

Reece Brown could be the bargain of the century Yep, he looked the business - quick, powerful, cultured passing. Our centre-mid is looking quality. Genuinely not concerned about Billing going.

Ladies and gentlemen we have a damn good squad there, especially if we can keep them all. A bit of naivety at times but a lot of real talent as well. It could be a very exciting season, I really don't think we will be struggling.

Donny just back from the beach not already on it

Look up and think forward first, if that's a no-go then by all means pass it back.

His awareness of what's around him is not what you would expect for a player moving from League 2. He must have cruised through games at that level

A very comfortable work-out.
My views, for what they're worth :
Grabara - classy and confident in everything he did. 2 excellent, 1 good save' Superb handling and judgement.
Stankovic - comfortable and quyite classy - but just a bit slow,.
Rees-Brown - plenty of promise. Could be a good one.
Bacuna - experienced beyond his years. Got a bit of everything - tackles, thinks, fights, finishes. Excellent.
VLP - superb goal, but exasperating at times. If he was consistent/had an end product he's be worth a place in the team.
O'Brien - impressed me again in his second half appearance. Runs with the ball, tackles like a terrier. One for the future.
Kachunga - never stopped runnibg - don't know where he'll fit in in the team, but not a number 9. For me just doesn't have that "goal flair".
Quaner - for me, not a striker in a million years - just as likely to delay/do an airshot/trip up BUT he did pass the ball to VLP for his goal.
A lot of positives overall, and the weaklnesses we know about already.
Rowe - did not disgrace himself and one for the future, not just yet. Daly - similar.
You can only beat what's in front of you and we did that comfortably, increasing our winning "habit".
Mbenza - not much time to impress - tracked back well but looked a bit leggy when attacking down the wing.

Only Grabara from that team will start against Derby, you could see the youth in the side with some of the decision making but very disciplined solid performance. Both Brown's impressed me, Rowe is never a right back, Kachunga looked hungry but didn't really do much. Rajiv looked good. Was unimpressed with quaner but picked out van la parra well for the 1st goal. Nicely worked free kick for the second. Koroma looks like he could be fun to watch but very raw. I've been very impressed with Edmonds-Green all pre season him and O'brien look the closest to breaking through of all the young lads.

He must have cruised through games at that level Some players thrive on playing with better quality teammates, he looks like a brilliant option coming on to replace Bacuna, Mooy and Hogg which i assume is our first choice midfield.

Let's not have an optimistic general view of the game and the squad etc, the site will implode.
Someone could say the socks were shit?

I’d be shocked if Bacuna didn’t start the first game, he looks excellent and wasn’t out of his depth in the PL

Jan played him in almost every game last season, and we haven't signed anybody this summer who is going to oust him. Hogg, Mooy and Bacuna for me if they are all still here come season start.

Van La Parra in his words is “back where he belongs”, his typical self tonight some good bits, some bits where he should of done the opposite of what he decided to do.
But fuck me, I’m glad to see him back

It's been a good pre-season so far with Siewert demonstrating he is able to drill the team to being fairly disciplined. Given how bad things were last year, I'm pleased how few goals we've conceded but mostly I'm pleased about moving back to a 433 and playing positive football. It's almost as if playing with proper wingers has a use after all

Could not get to the game last night but the one thing that did stand out was a win away at Doncaster! It must be years since that has happened!

Game kind of petered away after the sending off.
Might be a good idea in friendlies if a player has to be sent off, for another player to be allowed on - a kind of enforced substitution.

I always thought this was a bit of a given. Yellow Card first, then a word with manager to suggest he's subbed before getting sent off.

That's what should have happened imo.. what if they had gone down to 8 men ? It should be about giving us a stern workout pre season not upholding the laws of the game to the letter
