I suspect there might be a large amount of chaff within the wheat there. Highlighted the wheat for clarity!

Seems commonplace recently to have an additional year option if the Club wants it.

Would be nice if we could tie him down, esp' with the Billing situation.

he's the one we should splash out on before the season starts, offer him the contract he's looking for after us and get him signed up and performing. worth it even on a massive wage - would happily plough most of the billing money into a new contract for mooy
but would be very surprised if he's here in september, however.

Any idea about his international commitments? He was excused some last season I seem to recall.

No way is Mooy going to be given a contract that drives a coach and horses through town’s wage structure. If he wants Premier League wages, he’s going to move back to the likes of Watford

Mooy will not be here, as much as we kid ourselves it’s looking likely. The club are looking to sell.

He won’t stay and his heart’s not in it either, he’s been off pace and poor focus since he came back from injury.

Australia will be playing 8 World cup qualifiers between September 2019 to June 2020.

You may be right, but frankly he has had nothing to play for since he came back from injury and probably has had one eye on not getting injured with this transfer window coming up. The jury is out for me and I will judge after 2-3 Championship games whether his heart is in it. I suspect he will leave before we find out though.

To those who think we will not pay enough to keep players we really want here, I believe you are wrong, it's what the parachute money is earmarked for. Pay for what you know.

True and to be fair there were a few who looked like their heart wasn't in it this year, even Schindler. Fact is he's the best CM in the champ, the best one I've ever seen at Town and if we have the opportunity to we should be building a team around him. Mooy looked superb for us in the 4231 but also made his name further advanced so I've no doubt he could adapt to a 433. Plenty of teams get relegated and keep their star men if they want to. The PL isnt the be all and end all and there will still be time for Mooy to play top flight again if that's what he wants maybe with Town or more likely without. If he shines again maybe he leaves in Jan if there's no reason to stay. Massive boost if we can start the season with Mooy, Kongolo, Hogg and Schindler.

IF we keep him and it doesn’t damage Mooy’s morale in doing so - then fuck me im looking forward to seeing that bald Pirlo dictacte the tempo of the Championship again.

Class midfielder, better than my other hero Clayts. Got to keep him, could be very important player this season. Worth at least 20 million.

If he goes he'll need replacing.
And if he's going to be replaced, we should be looking already, not waiting until he's gone.
Brown - Hogg - Bacuna could be good, but Mooy is our best player and not someone we can afford to let leave without someone of a similar level and ability coming in.
Off the top of my head, except for (maybe) Joe Allen, I can't think of another midfielder in the championship as good, bar arguable Billing on a day he's up for it and he's not staying.
