Impressed with him so far this pre season, got the team playing the fast paced 433 that he likes.
We aren’t keeping hold of the ball for the sake of it, immediately our players have there heads up and look to get the ball forward.
We have genuine electric pace going forward and the biggest thing for me the morale is back in the team, we’re scoring goals and winning games, granted yes its pre-season but winning is a habit and a good habit to get into.
Hope this continues into the season and you never know, lightning could strike twice.

A lot of knee jerk reactions on here when he took over. It was a poisoned chalice of players either wanting away or at rock bottom in confidence. Not a situation to turn round instantly. He may be found wanting in certain areas in games to come but we don't know that until he's given a good run at it. See who else might come in after the January window at least before we get some idea of his long term plans.

Pretty spot on there, I went out to Austria and the team spirit was very evident, plenty of laughing and joking both between the players themselves and the coaching staff and players, definitely no sign of 'Arrogance' as Phil Bill has rattled on about. Jan and Colin came to the pub and had a beer bought a beer for a few of us and made time to chat amongst us where they were happy to talk about things in general but obviously not specifics like transfers but its fair to say that they are both very knowledgeable and have clear ideas about how we play, how we integrate the younger players, what limitations we have in finances and player abilities and how we ca overcome those. Now that the dissenters are no longer involved with the first team coupled with the introduction of the new players as well, especially Tommy Elphick as a leader then the whole mood has changed within the club, everyone is enjoying their football, we have goalscorers in several positions and we will be playing opposition that is no where near the likes of Man City, Spurs etc. One thing Jan did say in the pub was that as soon as he had taken over Collin Quaner rang him and said he wanted to come back and play for him and Huddersfield Town, Jan said when he did come back his fitness wasn't at the required level as presumably Ipswich don't train as hard as us but that Collin worked on his fitness after his loan had finished and is now part of his plans, that doesn't mean BTW that he is guaranteed to start but I guess it means he's likely to figure at certain times this season, it may well be a similar case with the likes of VLP Feeling positive for the season that is for sure

Totally agree. It’s mission accomplished pre-season filling me with confidence in him, the staff and the squad. There will be no miracle guaranteed but hard work, the right attitude and keeping feet on the ground should see us in for a belting season.
No illusions we will smash it, but I’d expect us to be one of the better sides who can hold a top 10 spot......

Bit early days to be getting carried away but so far so good
One thing that I think people are underestimating is the strength of our squad. If we don't lose anyone before the window shuts I'd say it's one of the strongest championship squads I've ever seen and would be shocked if we're not top six at Christmas

That’s it. If identity and style are good the rest will follow. Let’s face it, the season we went up not many were pegging us even for Top 10 at the start of the season!!!

Safe in the middle of the league/pushing for a play-off spot would do me; consolidation’s the key for this season. I'm just hoping we don’t do a Sunderland nor are fighting against those bottom 3 spots; but I’m quietly confident that won’t be the case.

Bunch of manic depressives on here. It's either unbridled optimism or doom mongering, no in-between.
Results or performances in preseason do not seem to be predictors of league performance in my experience. We weren't bad last preseason for example.
I have no idea how we will do next season, but looking forward to it, more than I was last season at this point.

I know it's only pre-season but shaking that losing mentality was key. If you include the two behind closed doors friendlies* they are currently 9 games unbeaten.
Man U 1-1 Southampton 1-1 Wolves 2-2* G Fürth 1-1 G Fürth 1-0 Hamburg 1-0 Rochdale 3-1 Coventry 4-1* Doncaster 2-0
A positive result against Montpelier then the players should head into the new season with some confidence that had clearly disappeared last season.

Get rid of Billing and Zanka it won't be any poorer in my opinion. Anymore and I will start to sweat a bit

Clear ambition to win the game, not to try and stay in it or get a break at some point. I honestly think we would have got enough points last season to at least have an interest in the last few games had we changed the tactics. Positive start , stay positive and finish positively, whatever the score is.

What I like is you can see what Phil Hodgkinson was talking about when he spoke of transformation. That was close to our second string last night but you can see the how JS wants to play with pace and bite (not literally) and whichever players are on the pitch that is what we will get. That is what I want to see when I turn up for a game and as the younger players continue to improve it means we will not be dependent on the few quality players we have. Great time to do it as we drop a division. Really looking forward to this season.

I've got to say his passion from the touch line and the tactics he set up against Donny, yes I know donny were poor but you can only beat what's in front of you, I was impressed with us, so my opinion is now one of wait and see, I liked what I saw and iam prepared to be happy if he gives us the press identity and have us competitive again, anytbi g more is a plus from me UTT

He came into a very difficult situation last season and was on a hiding to nothing. He did not exactly give me much confidence that he would turn it around but not sure anyone could have done anything at that point, the team had given up.
The pre-season results are encouraging but we have to wait and see how it goes when the league starts and we are playing better opposition. Far too early to judge either way. We will know a lot more after 10 or 12 Championship games.

I have lost count of the threads on here at pre-season friendly time saying it is only about fitness and results don’t matter in friendlies but these results feel great. Played 5. Won 4. Drawn 1. Scored 11. Conceded 3, and that is playing with the whole squad. Looking good to me.

Loved the bloke since he first came to Town (I was at that Barnsley away game when he tore 'em apart), and thought DW was a bit harsh with the Spurs away bollocking when he took Quaner off before half time. On the other hand... if VLP doesn't play another game in a Town shirt ever, it will be one too many for me. Your hopes of JS turning a sociopath into a normal member of society is sadly misplaced.

Agree that Quaner at Barnsley looked an excellent player. Was very unlucky not to get a couple that day.
