Rumours on twitter that no Grabara, Schindler or Hogg today, and that the latter may not be due an injury... How do you predict when a player may or may not be due an injury? Ha, edited!

I'd like to see;
1st half. Coleman Bockhorn | Stankovic | Elphick | Kongolo Hogg | Brown | Mooy Diakhaby | Mounié | Pritchard
2nd half. Grabara Hadergjonaj | Schindler | Edmonds-Green | Duhaney O'Brien | Daley | Bacuna | Mbenza Koroma | Grant
in the second.

Schindler and Hogg both sorting our transfers it is then? kick off the rumour now, get it out of the way early doors.. keeper not playing because he has already fallen out with Jan(chucked in for the odd poster who thinks Jan got us relegated last year)..

Personally, I'd like to see Grabara Brown - Elphick - Schindler - Kongolo Hogg - Bacuna Mooy Van La Parra - Grant - Pritchard

Hogg came off the team coach Good, hopefully we see Jan's first choice XI then which I think is Grabara Flo, Schindler, Elphick, Kongolo Mooy, Hogg, Bacuna Diakhaby, Grant, Pritchard No pissing about with subs at half time now, lets see how this side gets on for 70+ mins...

Line-Up Announced: Schofield Flo Elphick Kongolo Bockhorn Hogg O'Brien Bacuna Koroma Grant Diakhaby Have to say, 3 DCM's is a little negative and so close to the season starting it really should be Coleman or Grabara starting, not our third choice.

Schindler and Pritchard missing completely, Bockhorn at left back by the looks of it. Hope there's not too much to read into

Pritchard not on the bench... He may be injured but I think he is surplus to requirements under Siewert and worth a decent fee. Could he go next week ?
Please to god find a place for Mooy...

Don’t like Mooy on the bench.

It's only a friendly remember, some players will be rested to make sure we have a strong side next week. Some right worriers on here.

Doesnt seem to rate Mooy which in continues to cause major alarm tbh. I hope Dr is right except that he benched him a lot last season too.

Unless they’re injured - pre season is all about getting minutes in the legs, general fitness, match sharpness, learning new partnerships and getting more familiar with the system. It’s obviously going to raise question marks that some of our key players (who will have interest from others) have not played today and the last game v Donny.

Rowe did well at RB did he not?
Might want a look at Bockhorn for LB cover.

Surely had to be the first XI today given so few games in pre season
Schindler, Mooy & Pritchard all have to start - and the keeper / Presumably Elphick given we’re not bringing in a left back
Squad very thin in defence / centre mid (imo) even with these included
We were told players had to leave to spend money - £20m fromSmith and Billing (if goes through). Left back and centre mid please

Hopefully with the smith and billing money we can now sign a left back if kongolo required for centre half cover.

We’re not even favourites so anyone whinging or throwing their dummy out later if we don’t win needs to take a good look at themselves.

Jan's turning Bacuna loose today. Make it your team lad.

Whilst it’s not what I would class as our best XI I can live with it. We all know Grabara will be our no. 1 and whilst it would be nice to bed him in a bit more during the friendlies from what people have said about him he has slotted in well already. Bockhorn is a strange one as I think he’s jumped up in level and him starting is a worry about LB unless Jan just wants to give some minutes there against a better quality opponent in case we need him if TK is out (hopefully not off). We could always use some of the Billing money for a replacement to cover TK. O’Brien getting game time is fine with me as by all accounts he played well in League One and has looked good in pre-season. It’s not such a step up potentially and blending him in to the team could see possibly one of the first academy players getting regular game time since Hunt. That wouldn’t be such a bad thing in my book. Koroma interests me. From the clips I’ve seen of him for Orient and during pre-season he looks raw and direct but given how scared we looked of having a go at times I quite like that. Fingers crossed we can help refine him but not dilute his attacking instincts. From my perspective swap those four starters out today for Grabara, Schindler, Mooy and Mbenza/Pritchard and that’s the starting XI hopefully vs Derby.

Neither Bacuna nor O’Brien is a “DCM”. Both more comfortable as 8’s than 6’s. In fact, taking their careers as a whole, both players have played more games at 10 than 6.

You do realise that O'brien and Bacuna are attacking/box to box midfielders don't you? Also, on the goalkeeper, one of Schoffield and Coleman will be on the bench next week - are you 100% certain which one it is? Grabara played on Wednesday, so one of the others needs some match time. I'd be surprised if this is next Monday's starting 11, but I'll be gobsmacked if there's not another game played behind closed doors before then. That's probably the lineup for the Derby game.

Seriously. It is blatantly clear that pre season has been planned to keep everybody as fresh as possible whilst giving enough minutes. Pretty sure that Jan doesn't see this game as the final warm-up. He just sees it as another opportunity to get legs into players. Today is just another training exercise, albeit a public one. If years of watching football teaches you nothing, then at least appreciate that pre-season matches are absolutely no indicator as to what happens when the season kicks off.
