From what I understand Siewert/Hodgkinson have said that they want 3 players for each position. 1 first team, 1 rotation and 1 developing player. Assuming Grant is first choice and Mounie as rotation player do we have anyone coming through from the academy that would be ready to fill that spot?
I don't ever get chance to watch the youth teams/development squad and was wondering if there is someone ready to step up or is it an area where we might be looking to bring a young player in.

I'd been assuming the young choice is Josh Koroma but may be wrong as he played out wide in the friendly the other week.
Even if both Grant and Mounié were to be ruled out at the same time though, I expect we'd see Kachunga, Quaner or Koroma through the middle before anyone from the youth set up. Pyke would probably have been next in line but he's on loan at Rochdale.

Grant needs to be no1, I reckon he’ll be a 20 goals a season striker.
He was the only positive to come out of our relegation season.

Hodgkinson specifically said at the q&a that we didn't need another striker, and I agree with him, complete waste of transfer funds that could be better spent elsewhere.

It's almost as if people are happy for Grant to warm the bench, solely for the reason that we only paid £2m for him, when in reality he's now probably a £20m striker.

Not really. We always seem to carry less genuine strikers than other sides. I wouldn’t consider Kachunga or Quaner as genuine strikers. The jury is out on Mounie also although I actually think if he stays he might do ok. If Grant is injured are you happy we’d still be able to score goals?

I think he is quality but a baron spell or injury or simply a change of formation means we need 2 strikers , I’m not suggesting we chuck 15 million at one but we sure as hell need another

Unless Mounié goes then we don't need another really.

I must be missing something here. 3 players for each position, this thread is about strikers, fair enough. Who are our 3 left backs and 3 right backs?

In my humble opinion we have two "proper" strikers at the club at the moment - Grant and Mounie. Apart from the opening month of his first season Mounie has not succeeded, for whatever reason. It therefore always worries me when posters say " if we have to, we could always use....." and then go on to name players who are, to put it politely, not very prolific (most of whom nobody seems to know if they're strikers, wingers, or whatever)
We are a Championship club with money, not a fortune but more than we've ever had in this division I suspect, so surely we can bring in someone, on loan or not, with goalscoring potential, not our back-up players who have never been prolific throughout their careers. I am not suggesting we splash out millions on someone to warm the bench but surely other clubs have excess strikers (young or bench-warming). I live in Burnley - they presently have six experienced strikers.

If Kian Harrett? keeps banging them in for the academy/edt wouldn’t be surprised to see him making an appearance at some point.

I think three strikers for one position would be excessive. How many did we have in the promotion season? Just Nahki?

Totally correct...always light on strikers....think we signed 30 wingers before we got Mounie in. We need another...a young lad from the Prem on oan or an Eastern European like Zahovic...a proper number 10.

Plus it may be argued we have a better defence now (I’m not necessarily making that argument).

Use bill money for a top striker hopefully A top striker that wouldn't.get.a game? What's the point? The point is who will score the goals aside from Grant? But a top out and out striker would be wasted in 433 imo.

We're playing 4 3 3 as long as JS is here you need to get your head round that . And if and when we change it it's far likelier to be 4 5 1 or 4 2 3 1 than 4 4 2 .

I wish we would play 4 4 2 to be honest just to shut you up for a week or two

Our inability to get goals from midfield has handicapped us for the last two seasons. We need a CM with an eye for goal and a desire to gamble on crosses to distract defenders and take the pressure off the striker(s).
