It's my first go round in the Championship and I'd like to hate the appropriate parties. I've picked up a bit of a negative vibe toward that team to the northeast, but beyond that I'm not sure.
Wikipedia, the font of all knowledge, lists Barnsley. How about Sheffield? Anybody else? I'm ready to believe the worst about anyone.

It's quite trendy to hate Luton but not too fussed myself. Sheffield Wednesday are a continued source of amusement but hate is too strong a word. I imagine being the biggest club in English football attracts a lot of hate...

? I'm not a lifelong fan. Live 4300 miles away. Frankly wasn't much of a soccer fan until a few years ago. Decided I needed a team and liked the improbable run to get to the premier league.

Beyond the obvious along the M62 and our massive friends down the road, I personally aren’t keen on the likes of Hull and Wigan. Historically small clubs in Rugby towns that suddenly had new grounds and some financial backing and became ‘big’ in the eyes of our Prem focused media. It’s good their stays at the top didn’t last long and I’d quite like to see them both further down a rung or two.
Assuming you’re genuine, just enjoy the Championship for what it is, closely fought and competitive, with plenty of quality. It might not get the global coverage the top flight gets but it’s the fourth most attended league in Europe and a great division to watch your team in.
If you caught the opener tonight, Luton v Middlesborough, that’s a good indicator of what’s in store!

As long as you hate Leeds 1st, the officials 2nd, the shit pundits 3rd, then whoever we play next you can't go wrong. Strong opinions either way on VLP, Mbenza, Diakhaby and Siewert are good too

Obviously, we all hate L***s, that's taken as read, as well as The Massive (Sheffield Wednesday). Barnsley - I do remember cheering when they got relegated some years back, but that might have been because Nigel Spackman was their manager.
Millwall - their fans are complete w*****s.
Birmingham - their fans are also not very nice, and they relegated us back in 2001 so virtually all people on here hate them.
Most other clubs in the division will generally have someone who doesn't like them, we bear very long grudges.
Does that about cover it?

Over here it has become trendy to never refer to a rival by name, but rather as "the team down south" or "up north" or whatever. The thought being, I suppose, that they don't deserve the respect of being named. Edit: I did see what you did there.

Leeds and Bradford City are our 2 main rivals, but Bradford are too far away in the leagues currently and a bit of a breeding ground for our young players at the moment it seems. Sheffield Wednesday probably 3rd. Many moons ago Bradford Park Avenuue and Halifax also. After those it's other Yorkshire clus - that being said, the rest are friendly rivalries. Particularly Barnsley, although it's very close to Huddersfield, isn't a heated rivalry anymore and one you could quite comfortably wear a Town shirt in the home end of Oakwell (their ground) without much of a fuss. We're still Yorkshire rivals but positive ones for now. Wednesday and Leeds are the two this season, both because they would claim to be far more relevant and important than Town despite not having done a thing of note in almost 40 collective years between them. Cringeworthy doesn't cover it.

In this league: Leeds, Wednesday, Birmingham, Forest, Derby, Wigan. That’s about it. Our enemies’ enemies are usually our friends- Barnsley and Hull hate leeds as we do so they’re ok. NB. This rule does not apply to sheff weds who are wankers enough for us to hate them independently.

QPR. They may not be local, but they represent everything that is detestable about football. I utterly despise them.

Regularly wear mine around the town and in the local pubs. Never an ounce of trouble. Wore mine into the home end at Oakwell in our promotion season and beyond a few comments it wasn't an issue. Does help that I was respectful though. Didn't make a fuss when we scored ect.

Yeah- crap club in s rugby league town that was entirely bankrolled by Dave wheelan also a prick. I thought may as well stick em in there. Also horrible ground to visit.

Blackburn fans have a sense of entitlement ah yes I meant to add in Blackburn. Wanker fans. Love the fact they hate us as they thin they got relegated by us resting players on our way to promotion.

Yes, their relegation was entirely caused by a game between two teams neither of whom were Blackburn, and had absolutely nothing to do with the 46 games they played that season. You couldn't have a more deluded mindset than that.
