The fans generally stayed loyal and patient to the end of the Premier League. New man takes over from Dean and there are question marks around his wealth that he is aware of and assures us he has enough money to run a championship club and get it challenging for promotion to the premier league. He then talks up transfer business, 3 prem league loans that will have more of an impact than Mooy. Upsets some fans with the fake shirt launch (I loved it) He replaces established 1st team players with lower league players that don't get in the match day 18. He benefits from over £20M in transfers but doesn't invest knowing that Mooy is in the last year of his contract and likely to leave. Instead of selling we loan Mooy out, the squad is weakened and there is no time to bring in a suitable replacement.
The manager who wore out his honeymoon period in the dismal end to the premier league with no clear system in place continues in the Championship with no clear system in place.
Dean who had built up 10 years of good will and trust would be criticized with how this summer has gone, Phil must have known that his decisions were going to create a toxic environment and he hasn't earned the right to say trust me.
Mike Ashley has just spent £40M on 1 player and they are still planning on boycotting matches until he leaves. Trust is easily lost and almost impossible to get back and Phil and Jan are destroying a lot of trust. If we have to wait until January or next summer to see the fruits of these sales then unfortunately they will be starting again with the crowd back to 12K and will have lost the atmosphere that made the place special for the last 3 years.

Trust is not earned by making misleading statements. After last season he must Know Jan will get very little patience from fans. He claims to have been a fan 40 years. How have deadline day deals out of the club gone down in the past? How did selling star players without replacement go down in the past? If he couldn't figure it out no wonder he thinks he has enough money to take the club forward.

The quality of discussion on this board and elsewhere online is a big contributing factor to the perceived toxicity. I'm taking a break after the transfer window shuts and focusing on just watching and supporting, I'd suggest others do the same if it's bothering them.

I don't think there will be a toxic atmosphere at all, if things don't show a sign of improving some will get angry, some will still support and many will say "seen it all before, typical Town, been this way since WWII".

I’m pretty new on here and relatively new as a town fan compared to many at only 6/7 years but I’m gobsmacked at some of the tripe I read on here!
To lay all this at Phil’s door when he’s barely got his feet under the table and also with DH still a shareholder and therefore involved in these decisions, is absolutely bonkers!!
Mooy - do we have all the details? Only 10 months left on his contract and maybe wanted to go.... PH’s fault that this was the situation with a contract that has largely run down....? I don’t think so. Not much merit in keeping a player that doesn’t want to be here so had to find a solution.
Folk expecting to splash tens of millions here and there should stick to playing FIFA !
Given the squad that took us down and their associated wages etc, this was always going to be a difficult window and a real transition.
What the club needs is getting behind the players, the manager and the chairman. All this toxic stuff can only do harm.

So don't tell the fans that it would take an obsene amount of money to take any of our star players in the last week of the transfer window.Folk expecting to splash tens of millions here and there should stick to playing FIFA ! There is a lot of difference between 10's of millions and £200KGiven the squad that took us down and their associated wages etc, this was always going to be a difficult window and a real transition. But not for Cardiff, or Fulham, or Stoke, or West Brom, or Swansea or....... any other team in recent history relegated from the premier league. You no doubt were happy to drop to the basement in consecutive years in the 70's, chance to see new grounds you'd never been to before. I'm not. At 80 Minutes the stadium was half empty and many of those that stayed booed. So you can say it's a sunny day but perhaps you are the one with the mental health problems and medication is why it's sunny. It's not my opinion that PH has made statements that would generously be described as misleading and perhaps more accurately described as lies. It's not my opinion that Jan will get less patience this season. His team were booed off twice in the 1st game.

That's the thing, us long termers HAVE seen it all before and IT IS typical Town, none of this really surprises me. And you know what....? That is really at the nub of why people like me are so disappointed and frustrated to be in this position again. I (we) hoped that we had moved forward from the mistakes of the past and once again we are right back where in the same place. There might be some master plan I am missing (such as PH being an interim owner before someone else comes in) but otherwise we are back to not having the pockets to support (any) ambition..... "No Mr Shankly you can't sign two blokes from Scotland, we've never heard of them" "What shall we do with all this money for young Denis, I know we'll buy some floodlights" "You want to buy players Ian/Mick (delete as you see fit or remember), can't you manage with what you have" "Thanks for getting us promoted Neil, you don't expect a bigger salary do you? Sorry it's a bit melodramatic, but you get my point.

We have lost 9 players from the 1st team squad and don't need to sell anyone, but it now appears we do!!

Maybe it's the fact that it is actually warm and sunny out there, maybe he's having a day out with his kids and you're acting suicidal over something that is a game at the end of the day. The demise of our club? Jesus christ, dramatic much?? Not long ago we'd have loved to have been in the Championship, we've punched above our weight for a couple of years and people have got carried away. If it makes you this unhappy I think you should step away from the game and find something in your life you aren't going to get so worked up about.

We made £23M first year in Prem, probably around same in second but we owe Dean Hoyle £50M. Sunderland were relegated in recent memory, how they doing?

Having watched Town since 1961 (5 years old) I’ve seen plenty of ups and downs but the reaction to what’s going on now is pathetic I don’t regard people as supporters who after one game think the whole Huddersfield Town world is falling apart maybe they can jump back on the bandwagon when we start winning again let’s get back to supporting the club through thick and thin if you can’t handle the thin shut up and go

So now it's the fault of a few random people on the internet that there is a growing toxicity around the club.
Nothing to do with a full year of woeful football, lack of investment, and empty promises then?
It never fails to astound me how much blind and baseless positivity exists within our fanbase at times.
Open your eyes FFS.

Kind of do in that he said we were signing 3 prem league players the following week that would have more of an impact than Mooy and unless we are keeping them so secret we are never going to play them then it was misleading or a lie.your opinion of how long those that count will stick with Jan when in your 'opinion' it continues to be unsuccessful is again your opinion.. By those that count I assume you mean the people that employ him. I mean the fans, think I made that pretty clear as well. Evidence, monday night. Do I need to take a scrren shot from sky at 80 minutes to see more empty seats than full to prov e what you saw if you were there.Jans team on monday were thought by some in their 'opinion' to fight back from stupid mistakes and to have a very decent second half... problem today?? every arse thinks their 'opinion' is a fact and is unarguable .... Yes you domy opinion is to leave the club to get on and then see if any 'facts' appear on and off the pitch to comment on sensibly rather than sound bite jerk reactions to anything and everything.. should you wish to vote with your feet, please do its your right and in your opinion the right thing to do.. Think many will if this season carries on as it started. Would be interesting to see how the marketing department or anybody on the business side of the club feel about your view on the value of fans. Didn't realise we were trying to lower the fan base as well as the wage bill.
