I half expect that. PP to release a hilarious video of them scoffing at apoplectic Town fans in a hissy fit because our signings are now on a par with pre Dean Hoyle days even after 2 years in the prem, about £50m in parachute money, over £20m worth of players been sold, millions more in loan fees accrued and shedding loads of big earners off the wage bill, even before it drops significantly due to relegation clauses anyway. I generally try and stay positive but Chirst on a bike, what the fuck is going on at our club? The new should feature a towel being thrown in! We have an inexperienced manager with a truly outstandingly bad record so far. Weve lost key valuable players with experience and made no attempt to replace them and have instead scratted around in the bargain bucket player market of lower or non league football, complimented by geriatric has been free transfers and a kid on loan fresh from finishing bottom of this division. If a 2019 version of Malvin Kamara was available at Port Vale, we might be in for him! You got to hand it to PP, they know how to wind fans up. I look forward to the 'real' transfer business being announced before the QPR game!

No hope for us cantankerous negative folk. Its just so disappointing is this. Getting to the prem was amazing. Never thought Id see it in my lifetime. Guess we all knew that it wouldn;t last long, that 'first' spell, and staying up longer than a single season was a great achievement but the inevitability of the relegation when it came was softened by the thought that once back in the championship, things would be different. At least for a while anyway. We'd be a monied club, not one of the divisions poor relations unable to compete financially with the 'bigger' clubs like we'd always been in the 2nd tier since the days of Ian Greaves. So Whilst i expected two or three of our better players to leave, I genuinely thought we would be in a position to not only use the money they raise, but add it to our parachute windfall and other monies left over from 2 seasons of cash rich prem football to really strengthen and drive on to get back up and establish ourselves this time. As it is weve lost all sorts of players. A huge amount of the wage bill gone and raised over £20m in the process. Yet our signings are no different from what we could have expected when Taylor or Asquith or Davy were running the club. A lad from Forest Green. A lad from orient. A lad from a german reserve team. A championship player way past his best on a free transfer. A young kid from a big club being farmed out on loan again. I wasn;t watching back then but its all got a touch of deja vu from the last time we came down from the top flight. The best players leave.. no investment to replace them and the club can't stop the slide and quickly disappears to the arse end of football. I hope this team is good enough to avoid that. I think it should be. Not sure about the manager though. But our business in this window is IMO the club effectively saying they are comfortable with us going back to where we were pre wagner. Lower mid table 2nd tier. None of the signings this summer suggest were really up for any better than that.

Another thread and another considered poster, The Captain, asking perfectly reasonable questions as to what is happening.
If the club are trying to gauge opinion from here then hopefully the penny will drop that this isn't a few moaners being miserable. It's rock solid reasonable and intelligent fans who are significantly worried.

It all smacks of "We're Huddersfield Town and we know our place", that place being lower second tier or upper third tier. The Wagner years were huge outliers and Skint Phil's managed decline is taking us back to where we think we belong.

To be fair the last time we came down we had nothing of a squad compared to now, but they did not have the millions from someone like sky back then. The big worry is the club have not learned from previous transfer windows and failed yet again. Lets hope we can fluke a win here and there in the next few weeks, but i fear that won't be the case, and feel it won't be long before Mark Hudson will end up in the hot seat for a stint to prove himself until the end of the season!

Two excellent posts - reasoned rational arguments from two worried supporters - just as I have never labelled anyone as a "happy clapper" please don't say these are immature children who can't get what they want or have thrown their toys out of the pram. I totally get most people's dislike of the nasty personal abuse that has been hysterically directed at the club/chairman in recent days - so unacceptable - but equally I dislike posters who are unhappy being labelled as depressives, knee-jerkers etc. Edit - the posts I was referring to on this thread are the Captain's and Galpharmer though new ones I agree with are being posted as I write !

honestly who the fuck is running the shitshow at the moment? It's like Dean said f..k it I'm out and everyone at the club was hit with a stupidity stick. they're all just sat in a corner rocking unable to even comprehend how foolish the club looks from the outside. Not only that but fair minded supporters are absolutely baffled as well. Is this the beginning of the perfect storm as far as town are concerned?

Maybe they are in a position of running successful business ventures and don’t have a mental breakdown every week when things don’t go their way. Lets put this in to real context. What has happened that is soooo bad over the last couple of weeks. We have lost one game and inevitably lost Mooy. Because the manager hasn’t publicly broadcast an in depth interview about how all our feelings have been hurt, the club don’t engage with the fans. Jesus Christ, just give it half a dozen games, then we can discuss the season so far.

No. They sold their crown jewels (the stadium) in operation gamble part 2. They just have to get promoted in the next few years. And isn't Rooney's salary being picked up by that betting company? If you call that a year's contract at £100,000 a week, that's £5m a year they'll be spunking on him. That is quite possible.

Paddy Power will be delighted with the FA charge. Puts the story, so their brand, back in the news which is the whole point of it all from their perspective.
I hope they do the decent thing and pay whatever fine we get, presuming that hadn't already been agreed as part of the deal.
