I was a VLP doubter but my son (who was 10 in the promotion year) absolutely loves him...for all the reasons I dislke him (step-overs when he doesn't need to, take a defender on again when he's already beaten him, keeps the ball that bit too long when he could give it etc.). In other words, he is an exciting player who will always divide opinions. But, as somebody mentioned earlier, he will get the ball into the final third..

VLP has had very little end product since joining us god knows why all of a sudden in some fans eyes hes the new messiah. Even though nick seems to be one of those on the VLP hype train and what he knows about football you could probably write on the back of a postage stamp 😉 He’s one of our most skillful players. Yes he’s got an attitude, but an experienced manager or club captain could get him to focus and prioritise and become a superb player that could run rings round most Championship teams, at least scare them shitless whilst taking the pressure off our defence / midfield. run rings and skillfull maybe but still no end product never has been never will be !

I thought VLP was harshly treated last year. He was part of the early season form which fell away soon after. I still remember one instance that I thought could have been our launch point for the season, but like most things last season it slipped through our hands. Against Leicester away 1-1 and early second half, VLP played an unbelievable through ball to Depoitre, who went and wasted a 1v1 with the keeper(think McGuire caught him up as he took too long on the ball). It was one of the best through balls played last year.
VLP was benched the next week and was soon on the outer after that. It was no coincidence he wasn’t around when we went on that awful run against the teams we should have been beating if we were to stay up.

Yes, he was pretty much MOTM in the 1-1 draw at Everton too, and got a pointed hug from Wagner at the end. Only Billing ran him close, but then he was left out of the starting squad and farmed out to Boro. Seemed very strange at the time.

why when he never has whats changed ? You mustn't of watched our first season in the prem then ? When Rajy boy was one of best players, defended well, kept the ball, held it up, took players away , made space. Scored a cracking winner In one game. We dont have anyone as good im afraid. We signed the awful Diak and Togs favourite name Mbenzaaaa.

one goal ? you call that end product ? End product is all the above not just goals, just imho mind. So RVLP is now being touted by you as one of the best Town players of all time ( for what it's worth I actually like him as a player, always did under Wagner when a lot of others didn't, however I'm worried that all the baggage he brings is more trouble than he's worth) I presume this is because Lee Clark is unraveling, yet again, this time at lowly Barrow, you've decided to dump him and switch allegiances?

Barrow ? He is at Blyth mate. Not dumping him, love the bloke but he is not doing well. He has upset some ggod players who have now left.

Before he got dropped last time, his biggest problems were never passing and far too many unconvincing dives. If he can address those issues he'll be a great player for town.

Absolutely. It's players like him who are capable of influencing the whole dynamics of games, and, OK, you could question his end product, but he's an emotional and expressive player who can transmit energy quickly to the crowd and thus improve the side's momentum; in short, he's the sort of player that can get the crowd up on its feet and induce it to turn up the volume considerably. This is important especially at home when things are getting a bit quiet; he's the type of player who can get folk excited, make them feel like getting behind the team to drive them on.* Of course, it gets a bit more complicated if the opposition manager is aware of this (as they undoubtedly will be) and takes measures to disrupt the influence he has. Yes, so I'm in agreement that an experienced manager will help him to counteract any tactics that the opposition may throw at him. FWIW, the likes of Diakhaby and Mbenza would do well adopt the same emotion and expressiveness. It would cause mayhem in Championship defences if that were the case! * Would have been useful v Fulham when it became clear they were dictating the game. Should have come on much earlier than the 85th minute imo.

Said all the right things in his interview - like he'd been coached what to say. Honestly, I think he's an arrogant, insincere prick.
Quality footballer though, exciting to watch & puts a shift in. Get him firing & he's superb. Compare with the other options & I struggle to see how he's not the best we have.

Yeah he's definitely got that prima donna attitude which is why he was shipped out in the first place, BUT he's the type of player people pay money to watch. If he's firing then he's one of the first on the team sheet. If he's causing problems again in training etc. then he's the next one to be shipped out simple as.

I don’t care if players are nice guys or not. I’d be happy with Ched Evans up front right now if i thought he’d score goals.
