It's an interest free loan from DH to HTFC so it would be mental to pay it off earlier than required, so you are connecting the normal shite-despite denying it. Thought the rumour was we can’t buy players until loans are paid off? Before anyone brings up Pipa, thought he was paid for out of Phil’s pocket. So it could make sense to pay the loan off earlier so we can invest in players??? Rumours & make sense don't belong together!

This isn't meant to restart the normal shite that goes on regarding DH. But if we have to pay him back anyway, I'd use any money we receive early from this potential transfer to pay off DH. The sooner he's paid off, the sooner we can move on. It's an interest free loan from DH to HTFC so it would be mental to pay it off earlier than required, so you are connecting the normal shite-despite denying it. Not sure I get the last bit of your post, I was just trying to avoid the normal "villain or hero" debate on DH that tends to overshadow lots of threads. We're due to pay DH off over the next few years anyway and presumably this transfer income would have made up some of the payments to him were it to be paid normally. So it makes sense to still use it in the same way, the worry would be that this income isn't used to pay DH off (either early or on the agreed schedule) and gets spent elsewhere. That may force the club to sell even more players in an effort to balance the books. I may be very old fashioned, but I hate debt and always used any unexpected income to reduce my debts. Obviously I usually had interest to pay, but then again I wasn't expected to pay back tens of millions of pounds in a few years!

Don't we have some bank loans to pay off?

Better to pay the money off using actual money we have coming in now rather than hypothetical transfers in the future that may never happen.
Imagine if i) we get relegated or ii) the arse drops out of the transfer market and we still owe Hoyle £10m and our ability to pay it disappears.
The only way we’re paying our debts off is through transfers or getting back to the premier league.
If there’s another loan with interest on then obviously pay that off first. But the club has been pretty quiet about that.

Rumours & make sense don't belong together! It does if the rumour is true. Very rare credibility then, so you can't claim any - unless? Until then it's filed in that massive bollocks category!

I wasn’t sure if I heard it in an interview with PH, or it was written in an article or it was just straight out written here. Anyway, all I was suggesting is it was a reason to pay off the loan ASAP thinking that I’ve heard it mentioned before. If you want to file it under massive bollocks go for it.

It makes sense to pay loans off whilst more money coming in to the club from bigger transfers and TV money because we then we are losing less money overall in operating costs.

Yes I thought “the rumour” came from someone who had credibility, just couldn’t remember exactly who.

In terms of unexpected windfalls we may get from Billing and Coady etc I think if we can use them to accelerate being debt free, we should - after all that's supposedly been both the goal and the main obstacle to kicking on with on pitch investment - let's remove the millstone and the excuse if we can with funds we cannot have budgeted to receive.

It would be good to know exactly what debt is left and when it's likely to be paid off.

It would be good if people on here had at least a concept of managing finance (expertise not required) before giving their opinion on financial management of a football club! I'm out if there is no sense whatsoever in what is being spouted! I'll even try pissing off to the other forum to see whether they're as thick as shit.

For me we still need to strengthen the team but I guess they will not use much of any windfall for that.

I've got £1000 mattress from Bensons for beds that I'm paying off interest free over two years. I have the money to pay this off now but I sure as shit ain't going to be sending them the money, it's going to sit in my savings account, even if it only gains me £2 interest.

I’ll drive you over there and not even charge for fuel. You needn't bother, it's a competitive world! I'll let you all know how it goes - whether you like it or not. I’m sure you will tell us how it is, in a strangely aggressive way that has no relevance to the ongoing discussions. You will probably then call us stupid or uneducated or unwilling to learn. Maybe if you dial down the way you talk to people on here, then we can all get along without the need for a pointless other forum.

Premium bonds mate, you can be pretty sure to win at least £25 before you have to cash them back. Can't lose.
