United were top table regulars until 1933.....is it more than coincidence then that another team in black and red, the Nazis, came to prominence just as Sheffield faded into largely 80 years of insignificance. Look at this tit posting on the BBC. Yes, lil ol' Huddersfield and another Sheffield massive.
64. Posted by sheffsteel on 10 Aug 2019 18:28 @46 Peter, Huddersfield are a small club so can understand why people might not be welcoming them into the PL, also their football in general was rubbish. Where as Sheff Utd have spent most of their history in the top flight and looking to expand their stadium to 42K and usually play open attacking passing football so more suited to the PL.

Yes. Yes it is. Not even a coincidence, just a complete waste of a thread trying to link two completely unrelated things together. Why waste time typing this shit? Fuck me rigid this forum has plumbed new lows. In the words of professional dour Scotsman Duncan Ballantyne, "I'm out".

It was pointed out with an historical twist (Sheffield United were in the top division for 40 years until relegated in 1933/34) and a little humour and pathos. You, however, added nothing except "fucking", "shit" and "cockwomble". Reading your diatribe you might assume i had lied, been offensive or made myself look foolish....three things that in responding you have managed very well. Anyone who uses "cockwomble" is a cockwomble....whatever that may be.

Thought after seeing the title it was either a shit film or the 'History Channel' squeezing another programme out of the Third Reich.?

Given that United have spent 60 seasons in the top tier compared to our 32-ish I think he may have a point.

Sorry Otium, trying to find the humour and pathos in comparing a football club to the rise of the Nazis, but failing. You may have had a point in what you were saying, but why the need to add this to it? Makes no sense and has no relevance at all. Plus Shef Utd play in mainly red and white....

The Nazis wore red and black and the symbol/flag/swastika has white on it. The same colours as Sheff United. Sheff United were in the top league for 40 years and then in 1933/34 they fell in to relative obscurity after relegation. In 1933 Germany was taken over by Nazi dictatorship. One went up and one went down. A simple analogy. Being 20 years older than Town at a time when there were only really 40 clubs gave them a start on us. They have one league title and we have 3. They never were a bigger club than us and never will be. If you cannot understand the post or reason for it i may suggest the problem lies with you and not me.

Ok, I fully understand the point you are making, just don't agree with the reference/comparison with Nazis due to my German ancestory. Sorry for the insults, it just annoys me.

Jeez, that's a bit sensitive. For your info about half the people in Britain have German ancestry. The British and German cultures are the two highest that have ever existed. The Nazis were an aberration created from Prussian military schooling. Plenty of good German history and achievements.
