With the famous 4-3-3 clearly not working for us and the managers inept at choosing a good starting XI, which formation/players would you like to see instead?

4-4-2 with the ability to make that a 4-1-4-1 should we be under pressure. We're too narrow across the pitch leaving huge gaps for opposition players to run through and put pressure on our backline.

We need to get back to some basic principles. Clean sheets are the rock upon which we can build success. With the players we have got available and match-fit at the moment, I’d play 3-5-1-1. Grabara Elphick Schindler Kongolo Flo Hogg Chalobah Bacuna Bockhorn Pritchard Grant

4-2-3-1
Lots of the players are used to it.
Grabara
Flo Elphick Schindler Kongolo
Hogg Bacuna/Chalobah/Stank
Kachunga/Quaner/Mbenza/Diakhaby (Grant/Campbell) Pritchard (Brown) VLP (Grant/Campbell)
Grant/Campbell/Mounie
That's easily a potential top 6 line up if well managed and coached.

An attacking option like RVLP Pritch Grant Mounie
Would be pretty lethal I think.

Agree we need to get back to basics and keep it simple. We're not good enough to continually try and play from the back like Man City. That was so evident last night. Lincoln kept it simple, played to their strengths and were worthy winners. We played what resembled a practice match in training. I would like to see us play 442 with Grant and Campbell up top.

Not sure the formation is that critical but the style of play is
Jan appears to want his players to play little passes through the gaps in the middle of the pitch. Problem being we pass it to the opposition more than we do our own players

I don't understand 4-3-3, I prefer 4-2-3-1. Liverpool look vulnerable at the back playing 4-3-3.
