We once had something worth offering, but we offered that present to a manager who thought all his Christmases came at once. Unfortunately our present size has reduced and is nowhere near as attractive. We wasted the big present. I don't think we'll ever attract a name like Mikel Arteta, that was my point. There are coaches that IMHO I think will not set their sights below a certain level of club & he's one of those. Sorry if I wasn’t being clearer, I got the gist of your post, my gist was more to say, even if we wanted fantasise about some of these managers, we needed to be able to offer them a PL gig. Without the PL we are looking for a different level of manager.

Julian Winter has previously said that MH will be a future manager of Huddersfield town That maybe a good reason to give Huddy a miss! We perhaps need a gem from the lower leagues, another Dean Smith or Chris Wilder. Someone with good experience, able to build team spirit and over achieve with players consistently but at a lower level. Also needs to be someone who has footballing principals which align with the ones we had when we were successful. Stoke and Ipswich both tried and failed to do that recently though which highlights the fact its not easy.

Yep. Ask Bristol City fans about him. Seems to have done a good job north of the border but he's not for me. Lots of us, football club managers included, have taken a wrong turn during our careers. McInnes appears to have learnt from his. And I'm not writing him off as a success at this level in the future. It's just that if we're going to appoint somebody to replace JS, I'd rather it wasn't somebody whose only job at this level was unsuccessful. Personally, I'd like Hughton. Whilst we can all decry the "safe option" of the managerial merry go round, I think in this instance we might be wise to hop back on to it for our next managerial appointment.

This survey should have included:
Anyone Me Donald Trump Dave Hockaday Whoever Manages Southport at the moment Owen Coyle Zippy from Rainbow Pugh Pugh (and their backroom of Barney and McGrew)
All of the above would do a better job (perhaps not the chap at Southport) at the moment
Sorry I thought we may need a laugh
But..... I have to ask - who on earth actually voted for Alan Pardew?

Not saying I’d necessarily want him at this moment in time but Tim Flowers has done a great job at Solihull Moors the last couple of seasons. Similar managerial career start and impact to the Cowley brothers at Concord Rangers then Braintree?

Get him in as player/manager and we’ve got Mooys replacement sorted as well. Win win. Bring back Nathan Clarke from Halifax as player/coach whilst we're at it At least he's not scared of shooting, even from his own half!

If we had more ambition I would go for mikel arteta or Convince stevie G back to England, doubtful I know but at least the players would respect him. But considering everything I'd go with Hughton.

This is where Phil needs to be a salesman and sell the club to Arteta. We have the Billing money and he could use his connections at Arsenal and city. Arteta who has also been accused of losing dressing rooms faster than a rat up a drain pipe So has every manager who has ever been sacked..

He was doing the after game Q&A post Derby in the Legends Bar. Obviously still links to the club. He was less outspoken than Clyde Wijnhard, who seemingly doesn't rate anything about the team/players we have. Hard to disagree with him in fairness.

McInnes appears to have learnt from his. Yes, by going back to Scotland. If he had gone elsewhere here and done very well, in the Championship, then he would be considered. Going back to Sunday league football and doing well doesn’t cut it.

If we're carrying on with the young German manager with the Dortmund link then I wouldn't be surprised if Hannes Wolf is appointed. Coached the Dortmund juniors & BVB II aswell as 80 games in charge of Stuttgart & Hamburg.

Someone with championship experience, promotion experience, a motivator. But I would rather have Hockaday here tbh instead of Jan. I would be amazed in recent history if anyone had as bad a management record as 1 win out of first 18 games, because most chairman with sense and bottle would have got shut long before it got to 18 games mark.

Put together a really good side at Kiel then went to köln although he got them up in the end he wasn’t liked by fans so was sacked I wasn't aware of his failure to get fans on board. I must admit, it seems to be a strange one, usually when your club is at the top of the league your manager is massively popular, and the drop off in results was only 4 games (2 draws, 2 defeats). Something that I would hope the club look into more thoroughly than I have before appointing but both jobs seem (from the outside at least) to have been massively successful.
