I think its Sol Campbell. Seems too convenient him leaving his job. Maybe we asked to speak to him and they turned it down so he quit.
He had a great career and will impress the players. Good for our most valuable player in particular to learn from. A big enough name to give a buzz back to the fans.
I know some don't want him, but that is true of any manager

Reading the Telegraph article, it seems Hudson will be given a chance to claim the job.
I'm interested to see how he does. He was promoted and rated highly by Wagner and clearly versed in the Wagner/Klopp high press style.
If not I would give serious consideration to the firstly the Cowley Bros, then Sendal at Barnsley and Sol Campbell.

Daniel Stendel was there tonight. Not scouting. We don't play them any time soon. They've already played (and beat) Fulham. They play tomorrow. I'm told he's our numero uno target. Supposedly fallen out with their owner over transfer policy. Time shall tell. Well he'll love our owner then...

Possibly, I was mightily impressed by Lincoln's tactical organisation on Tuesday night, Playing a 4231 butt with in game changes and adjustments. I'm honest and have not seen much of Lincoln over the last few years but 2 promotions, starting this season with 3 straight wins suggests real talent.

Chris Hughton... lol! Goodness me, why isn’t Jose on the list?
Why on earth would Chris Hughton come here with the club in this mess
Some more realistic names... if our transfer window signings are an indication of how we’ll approach this
The free transfer Mark Hudson - Cheap and easy Option
The league 2 Michael Jolley - Grimsby Sanger Mark Cooper - Forest Green Manager
The conference Pete Wild - Halifax
National league north Southport - Liam Watson
The German 4th-8th tier Option Mike Tullberg
I exaggerate but lower your expectations to Chris a Powell / Mark Robins sorts of names

They were better than us and deserved to win but they were a fairly robust outfit. Maybe the Cowley brothers would do a good job, they have a winning mentality and delivered silverware every season or the last 3, two league titles and a JPT Trophy so they are certainly winners.

Barnsley are owned by some seriously rich people. Might be the wealthiest in the league. Not flashing the cash, but it is there if they need it. Also got Mr Moneyball himself on board.
Think it would be harder than we think to poach their manager.

For unity in the dressing room, a large guy like Sol Cambell is a good shout. Take on any mouthy nonce's and sort them.

If we're not able to persuade the likes of Hughton then I don't see championship level experience as being absolutely necessary. I don't want another rookie though. Some experience and evidence of stamping their authority on a team and achieving success without a huge budget would be the main criteria for me.

Doubt it's Houghton if Hudson is being given a chance to earn his stripes which is a bit of a disappointment.
I'm glad hes gone but we really need a statement of intent with the next appointment, clearly going to be pivotal to our season.
Not convinced by Big Sol, tactical nouse is the highest priority on my list and I don't think he has it.
What's top priority for everyone else?

Judging by decisions in the last year or so i’m genuinely dreading what we’re going to do next.

Tough times at present. Never been my cup of tea but based on current circumstances, budget and being realistic. Nigel Adkins. Always thought he was a bit of a prat but did well at Hull and has good experience.
Over positive people normally make me suspicious but based on the current state of things, he'd be best available option to start turning things around.
I think a manager with a certain amount of experience is key. Not a time for taking risks on potential. Need someone who knows where to start and get the players on board.
And please, not Sol. One of England's best defenders but now is not the time for Town to gamble again.

Point against Derby and hold out a few more minutes against QPR and he’d still be here. Food for thought.

Can’t afford Hughton and why would he come here !! Out of the cheaper options I would prefer the Cowley brothers but I agree with the earlier posts that the Sol Campbell leaving MFC by mutual consent is strange. He saved them from relegation and has started the season well now he’s left. IMO he has definitely got a destination sown up, whether it’s here only time will tell 👍🏻

Not convinced by Big Sol, tactical nouse is the highest priority on my list and I don't think he has it. What's top priority for everyone else? Takes longer and more effort to add an o into Hughton's name than to spell it correctly..is it auto spell? Sorry being silly..but anyway I'm curious as to how Sol's tactical nous is considered weak. Experience in dugout maybe..and for what it's worth I dont believe we are the club for him. Hudson is safe and wouldnt put the club in any jeopardy but feel it would be the tame beginnings of a moderate decline. I'd be in favour of trying to get Karanka but sadly feel we are not too attractive sn option for the agents representing any 'names' right now.

We’ve done the bright young coach thing. I want us to go opposite to that with either Terry Venables ( currently living in Spain) or Joe Royle (did great with Oldham with little money) Give these lads a chance.

If we are a credible Championship club with pretentions to build on time in the Premier League then Chris Houghton is the obvious candidate. He's a good manager and a good bloke. If we can't support what he thinks we would need then I hope we have someone who is credible but still fiercely ambitious to better themselves and the club.
It's the biggest decision this club has had to make in 50 years. Get it right and we have truly built on the Premier League years. Get it wrong and we are right back where we came from.
No pressure then PH!
I hope it's a good outcome.
