To be honest with three centres I’d just throw VLP at it. Back when he had a run of games he showed more defensive commitment from midfield than Flo demonstrates on the other side of the pitch, so reckon it’s worth a go. Grabera
Flo Elphick Schindler Kongolo VLP
Hogg Bacuna Pritchard
Grant Campbell Not a huge 3-5-2 fan but seems the way to go with this squad (unless we sign a LB). Id swap bacuna for chalobah - looked a good player just not quite sharp yet. Also maybe swap Campbell for mounie (if hes staying) and use FC as more an impact sub Yeah, would possibly agree, the doubt for me is something a Hull supporting mate said, in that his style is to take the field and go hard until he burns out, he’ll never be a 90minute player. In that circumstance, might be better to unleash Campbell from the off and get what we can out of him, force goals through him and Grant before bringing Mounie on later on when we’re more likely going to need a sponge up front. If we’re needing “impact sub” then something has gone wrong. Prepared to be swayed either way though!!

Its fcking bollox talk......Jason Cnuty talk from that appalling Talkshite radio station.....
the simple phrase is "lets play with 2 strikers" not fcking rocket science it "Two strikers" -.......

Grant is our most important player if we want to be successful. He thrived at Charlton in a 4 1 2 1 2 system. This would allow us to play Mounie, who is more likely to win long balls than Grant is (0/4 on Friday). It also allows Pritchard to play in his favoured position. A formation favoured by Michael Flynn at Newport on Saturday.

Kongolo is the only player at the club capable of playing LB in the championship. To be honest with three centres I’d just throw VLP at it. Flo Elphick Schindler Kongolo VLP
Hogg Bacuna Pritchard
Grant Campbell I'd go one further and play; Grabara Kachunga | Schindler | Kongolo | van la Parra Bacuna | Hogg | Brown Pritchard Mounié | Grant Let Hogg drop back if needs be, but let's get men forward and dominate the middle.

When did Mooy ever move the ball quickly, generally he slowed play down rather than speeded it up Mooy retained the ball superbly, and when we played with a no.10 linked well with them also. There’s nobody in the current squad anywhere near that ability. But we couldn't score in a brothel either with or without him. Not sure mooy is that critical to scoring, more critical to relying on possessions based football to stop the opposition from scoring. The reason bacuna, mbenza and Diakhaby have had so little game time under Wagner was because they give the ball away too easily and dont have a defend first mindset. The whole club needs a reset. Write down the best 11 players and then find a formation that gets them all onto the pitch in their respective "best" positions.. Then step back and have another look at the strengths of the team. Is it possession based or counter attack? Is it attack down the wings or try more threaded balls? Simple 1% things can surely make the difference. We were defending corners with all 11 players.... including pritchard. Why not put him on the halfway line? He is unlikely to compete with a header anyway, diakhaby similar doesn't look like his strength is defending so spit him and pitch and get 3 or 4 of the opposition out of the box. Where are the towels for throw ins? Another 1%. Make sure the players have the correct studs in, drinks bottles with ball boys etc etc. Even if you do 50 things that add up to 1% it's a gain.

Definitely two up top given we have players who can do that job!!! What overall formation would you play though to accommodate 2 up top as we don’t really have the players for a 352 due to lack of suitable wing backs and 442 is a dead formation unless you have players very specific to that formation who can do their roles well ie Burnley and occasionally Bournemouth etc. We don’t.

I'd be happy with that as long as it was Flo on the right instead, Kachunga can't defend, can't beat a man with pace or a trick and can't cross. Flo might have his limitations but he's better at all those.

Two up front is a must, everyone knows that this club has not been able to score enough goals for 4+ years. I know you can't bring in a manager and tell him how to play but it has to be attacking front foot football. Oh and for gods sake, before anything else get big Colin out of the squad! He was mildly amusing 2 years ago but it's just not funny anymore, if we have to keep him employed maybe the club need a children's entertainer! Sorry, but you could put 4 upfront but if the ball never gets there quickly enough it’s no use. Our midfield is the issue - one paced and without mooy nobody capable of retaining the ball and moving it quickly enough to create much. Add to that the sprint twins, quaner and suddenly the new messiah VLP and it’s clear why we don’t score goals for me. When was the last time a midfield player burst beyond the front man or arrived late in the box to score.........they are always 20 yds too deep. Grant is excellent and scored with his only real chance of note last night - could work harder at times, but understandable he looks a bit fed up given what he’s being served up every week. When the next appointment is made, it’s a fine balance between getting more out of what we have and overhauling it all to create a new identity. Absolutely spot on with regard to our midfield. We simply could not retain the ball in the middle of the park on Friday. Without that sort of control, it doesn’t matter who is upfront because they’ll never get a chance. We scored from our only serious attack of the whole second half, which followed our only spell of midfield possession in the whole second half.

With Bacuna so out of touch we've only got Reece Brown with an eye for a pass now in midfield, we need to give him a run to see how he does

Shots at goal from anywhere we probably shoot less than most teams I would also convert Kachunga into right fullback or wingback ten times better defender than Flo

Surely there must be a Championship standard left back who does not have a club contract and can be signed up thus allowing Kongolo to move into the middle once the new player is fit. Not getting a left back was a huge mistake by town

If only we’d have known we needed a left back before the season started... I mean that’s just unlucky right? Anyway Phil’s told you Kongolo is a left back...and who is to argue with Phil
And if only we’d have known we could lose Mooy our best player and most obvious raver for Premier League teams, the man who everything we did came through ... I mean you can’t prepare for these obvious things.
We’ve only had 2 years to have a replacement lined up
Don’t give me he went last minute - we needed another centre mid regardless after Billing & Williams went, we should have brought one in anyway if we were planning on playing a 3. Proactive not reactive. One ready for the division we are in
