The stewards would prevent access to the ground if it was considered a problem. That's why they're there outside the turn styles. Tge steward are only at the stadium though. They're not on the way to the ground as the police were and should still be imo. That would be a political argument, they would have to be paid for by the local authority. To be fair, nobody died.

They don’t have a firm and I’ve never seen them. 20 of them without police can do what they like in town, won’t last right long. I remember trouble at as an away fan at Craven Cottage in the early 80s There was fans of Town and Fulham on what was then a big open terrace behind the goal. Some of us aren’t dinosaurs. 😂 These days they are all Gin and tonic drinking lovers.

They were all in the tunnel for the aftermatch brouhaha. I am pleased. Always been over-policed by lazy, useless, brain-dead coppers milking an easy shift and the football fans. I would rather see a mass brawl than know 100 fat cops were on double time and taking the piss. Challenged so many down the years. Scraps all outside the ground yet there were two Bobbies every 40 yards all the way to the station after the match...why? I do hope nothing serious ever happens to you like oh I dunno an accident where the brain dead coppers have to put their stupid blue lights on to help you , or your burgled, or there is a terrorist incident and you or you family need protecting etc etc etc etc etc etc etc etc my daughter is one of the brain dead coppers regularly being diverted from her normal duties to attend matches. Whilst she’s at matches generally trying to stop middle aged men swearing in front of children and fighting other middle aged men , she’s unable to help the people that she actually joined the police to help , the ones like rape victims and victims of actual crimes. She is not paid overtime I’m told 90% of officers have their shifts altered for matches Silly uniformed post

I could understand your concerns if you or anyone else were threatened, you saw an idiot smash a bottle on the ground and that's it. It's not the 1980s.

Don't mention it to Barry Sheerman he would be having kittens, but there again he did admit he new very little about football a couple of weeks back.

Are police meant to supervise empty seats as well these days ?

That can happen when 1/3 of officers are investigating major crimes , such as murder , terrorism, human trafficking, child sexual exploitation etc if you have 50 + officers investigating a murder they may be one arrest in 2 years for that crime , I’m guessing that your limited contact with police over the years has tainted your view and that’s a shame.

It's not the 1980s. It was thrown backwards at head height with a lot of people around. It could easily have hit somebody. The person shouldn't have been allowed in the ground but I bet my bottom dollar they did get in even if someone reported it. I don't claim to be an expert on law and order but I saw with my own eyes it was a bad decision not to have the roads from the town to the stadium policed.

There will have been meetings with KSDL regarding a police presence, obviously with it being Fulham and low risk, minimum presence required. Watch the difference when we play on the 15th September.

Tbf it looked like it might get a bit out of hand on Friday night after the Milosovic/VLP incident.

As I've said that's nothing to do with Huddersfield Town. The footprint round the ground is. Councils responsibility for policing outside that area i'm afraid.

I was drinking with two bobbies last weekend. Very high rates of sickness and off work. High rates of depression. High rates of PTSD. Lazy and feckless...most stay for the easy life and the pension. Heard that from several times now from different coppers. David Cameron as Prime Minister accepted it was a failure that 91% of police work time was in the station...the other 9% is at Leeds Road. You can drive to London and back 20 times before you see a Police car....i am not exaggerating. At night during midweek there are 4 cops on fr the whole of Huddersfield...a town with a stabbing or shooting every second day. I had my vehicle broken in to 10 times in two years. Police attended ZERO times. I was threatened with a gun by drug dealers. Police attended 3 days later. A gang pushed a sofa and pallets against my wall and set it ablaze. The building evacuated. 4 stories high with the 70 foot flames hitting the roof. It took two fire engines pumping from the canal to put it out Despite me calling the Police SEVENTEEN times they attended 3 weeks later saying they had been "busy with serious crime"...so arson s not serious?!! Love street protests and non-events though. Big on hate crime (oxymoron) and barking dogs. I no longer respect them and they are not fit for purpose.

What was really weird, on Tuesday against Lincoln there were loads of coppers knocking about. They all must have had a night out on Friday, spending Tuesday's overtime!

Some chavvie kids walking to the match from the town centre with glass bottles. One threw one on the floor. I was surprised at the lack of police that are usually there. Was there a 'message in the bottle?' for the police

Except the two you were drinking with , phew that was lucky the only 2 non feckless ones in the country. I like your posts most of the time but just because on occasion you post something I don’t agree with does not make you a clown Equally your experience with the officers you have come into contact with does not make every officer useless. I can only hope in future should you have need to call the police they send Columbo, Dirty Harry , Kojak , Mr Plod , Sherlock Holmes , the cast of Hill street blues and Basil the mouse detective to investigate. Somehow I think even then you may not be entirely happy. I look forward to reading some more reasoned posts from you in future ,

Without looking too deeply into it and as I didn’t go to the Lincoln game I can’t say how many police were present but they’ll classify that fixture as having more potential for disorder than 2 dozen Ruperts from Fulham rocking up. Not saying that’s what they should base their entire presence on but it will have played a part.

Ok so maybe I was a bit piss taking with my last comment but it seems to me that all of your complaints are about the system and not the contact or lack of it you have had with pc blogs. You are right the motorway police have been disbanded and replaced with Highways agency staff so you will not see a policeman on the motorway unless it’s a potential fatal. The staffing levels you talk about ie 4 on nights are not the fault of the actual beat officers , The decision to sent officers to your gun threat, car break in or arson are not made by officers on the beat . They are made a long way up the food chain. Yea some beat officers are muppets some are outstanding life saving hero’s but most are in between. Decent men and women doing their best under increasingly difficult conditions.

I remember the days in the 70s when you would go to a fight ,and a football match would break out. Disgraceful, didn't the footballers have any respect. There use to be some right battle's, it wasn't uncommon on a Saturday at a big game that 30/40 fans would end up in A&E. When feelings are running high! there is always potential for trouble whether or not the opposition have a firm.
