I've seen a fair bit of moaning on twitter after today's game, I'm not sure if that is just frustration or are some fans expecting miracles? The problems at the club haven't appeared overnight and nor will they be fixed overnight.
Anyway lets have a look at the positives from today's game (we are all too familiar with the negatives).
1) we pressed as a team (Reading couldn't get comfortable on the ball until we tired)
2) the young players contributed and will only improve with more game time and experience
3) Kongolo and Schindler
4) Diakhaby's pace is frightening in this league and he actually made a couple of tackles
5) we actually looked like a team who had played together before
6) we got behind the team and the team responded to the positive support (in the first half)
7) We've improved in the two games Hudson has been in charge and he now has a full week to prepare for a tough away game

I agree with every single point - definitely positives today (but only for 70 fucking minutes!!!). Still positives though...

There is a school of thought that says we played exactly as Reading's game plan allowed.

There is a school of thought that says we played exactly as Reading's game plan allowed. That certainly didn’t seem to be what the Reading manager thought.

I actually thought the subs made things worse today. Why was VLP taken off when he was having a great game?

Fair comments but 2 things I'd point out,you didn't mention the guy with the funny hair. Also I think Reading played a negative game to try and nick it late on.

Chalobah has played well in all his games so today wasn't a surprise as such but I agree he's going to be one hell of a player in the next few years (he'll do well under Lampard when he gets his chance). As for Reading I disagree, I don't think they expected us to start the way we did and it put them on the back foot as we were all over them in the first 10-15 mins (positive stuff). They exploited the spaces as we tired - but in keeping with the positive theme we are going to be hard to beat if we keep going in this direction, we just have to be patient.
