I made the point about a week ago that by the time we pay him off/get rid Mbenza will have "earned" a million pounds from Town.I was wrong - I was corrected by a bloke at the chippy in Marsh that with his signing on fee and weekly wage he is already way beyond £1m. A disgrace. He touched the ball about six times today when he came on - 4 backward passes and two forward whereby the ball was lost.
Add to that VLP's usual flashy display today - end product absolutely nothing and Reading's corner taker showed him how not to float it - and Quaner, Kachunga and the new ones (to be fair they were probably delighted to be signed)and the answer to "where's the money going" is partly answered. Additionally it's not an original point but Diakhaby is lightning fast but not a footballer in a million years. We genuinely don't have a decent winger in the club - I'm not asking for a world beater, but just an adequate one.
On a positive note - Trevor Chelobah - what a breath of fresh air. Positive, powerful, man of the match again. Two years ago it might have been realistic that we could afford to sign him permanently. Now, he is way out of our league.
That said I thought Hudson today got as much out of these so called representatives of Huddersfield Town as anybody. I thought the first half was as good as we've been, even though we never looked like scoring. The opponents ? - we've seen it so many times - "right Huddersfield let's see what you've got...not much.. right we'll step up an attack you second half." Piece of cake.
Not sure if this shouldn't go in the match thread. If so, apologies - admin please move it !

VLP,s end product “absolutely nothing”. ? Surging runs taking us upfield and winning free kicks at the edge of the area. Mesmerising runs at their defence and almost winning a penalty. Excitement every time he got the ball. A welcome return to the John Smith’s imo.

I don’t know who to blame now. Nothing works, we are clueless. What’s happened?

Overton, seriously did you see that "almost winning a penalty" There was not a person in our stand who didn't see it as the old VLP - an utter dive. From our angle a complete embarrassment. I totally accept that he's one of our more exciting players but wouldn't you accept that his end product (in terms of assists, shots, decent crosses) is absolutely zilch ?

VLP reminds me of a slightly better Theo Robinson.

Don’t waste your time discussing it. Overton is head of the VLP appreciation society, where “getting us up the field” is the benchmark of a successful winger. 😉

Mbenza is quite simply stealing his wage from the club at the moment.

I thought Rajiv had a really good game today and looked exactly what he is.....A quality championship winger.
I also thought Diakhaby played well and looked what he is.....A young, inexperienced winger whose been badly coached, badly motivated and badly used by our previous managers. If he's properly coached, motivated and used, then he'll develop into a top players....hopefully for us.
I've seen nothing from Mbenza to suggest he is interested in being a high quality professional footballer.....he looked exactly what he is today.......A lad who'd do well playing for Emley, Golcar or Shelley

This, from a journalist who writes in the same column about Flo "a player who can always be relied upon"...
