Where is the Lee Bowyer thread? Maybe amalgamated with the next manager job thread? Why didn't this happen for Monk?

It's so you have to trawl through loads of shite to find things out,I wouldn't of know about Boywer if the new thread hadn't of appeared,

Remember when 3 pipes used to kick off all the time about multiple threads. He got the rules changed then fked off.
Some of those amalgamated threads aren't worth opening.

Because I didn't do this I'm assuming Gag_N_Bone_Man (Destabiliser) actioned it. I've no problem with this as in most cases it's about people creating a thread that could quite easily be incorporated into an existing thread, purely for their self aggrandisement. It clutters up the board with garbage. The Monk thread probably had to be left because assimilating this into the manager odds thread would have deleted the Monk poll.

Ok - the Lee Bowyer thread started with a post about the odds on Lee Bowyer being slashed, and was created after a post on the manager odds thread mentioned him. There was no need for a new thread. Would have merged the Monk one as well but this had a poll that would have been lost. You can't have it both ways guys - multiple threads? "Why aren't admins merging them?" Merge the thread "why are admins merging them? Comment on Manager odds thread - 12:17pm It says a lot when Lee Bowyer is 4/1 3rd favourite. The man flying high with his beloved Charlton. They’ve not a fucking clue the initial post on the Lee Boyer thread seems to have now gone but was after this.

Then on the other hand we have reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeally long threads like "The tidy thread players managers htafc" that runs to 268 pages and is anything but tidy and the "Today's games ...." thread that is a whopping 653 pages and started almost 3 years ago. I wish we could bin some of these at the end of each season to avoid excessive thread bloat.

I proposed a clean up a few years back but was vetoed - suggested tidying the structure and archiving threads over a certain age.

Definitely needs to be looked at. I can't see any other thread talking about Lee Bowyer without having to search endlessly and hope i accidently come across it.
Agree with the Archiving of threads over a certain age.

I proposed a clean up a few years back but was vetoed - suggested tidying the structure and archiving threads over a certain age. Better just to let the forum do its job if you ask me, rarely any need for merges. Some of the old threads are a bit ridiculous, 'today's games' for example! Unless you're on here 24x7 its far easier to pick up things of interest using the subject, lumping everything in a few threads makes it much harder to read plus most long ones end up with people bitching. These would just drop to the bottom of the page ordinarily but that cant happen when everyone is forced to post in one thread.

The "Today's games" thread is the best 1 on here by a distance. Everyone knows its purpose and it gives somewhere for us to talk bollocks about games on TV, or elsewhere. You can skip to the last page knowing you wouldn't have missed much, unlike some others where you need to read 20 pages of twaddle every day.
I don't see the issue with someone becoming the new favourite to be our manager having their own thread. I didn't know about it until I clicked on this thread tbh.
It is certainly a lot more useful than the utter bollocks threads that mayorofcov makes every other day which are left alone. If that was Nick posting them there'd be people kicking off left, right and centre.

I thought that a sole Lee Bowyer thread was justified just as a sole Garry Monk thread was justified. They are both ultra controversial characters and Lee Bowyer had come from nowhere to be the odds on favourite to take the hot seat.
I suppose the message to thread starters is to include a poll to stop it getting merged.😜

What is the "Talk of the town" archive section I've just seen? It seem to have a load of newish threads in there for no particular reason.

As a housekeeping exercise I have archived any threads that have not been commended on since the season started. These are still accessible (read-only) and if anyone strongly feels a particular thread needs resurrecting then you can PM me and I'll do it. It means that the main board has now gone from potentially 77000 threads dating back to the beginning of the forum to around 350 "current" ones. Nothing has been lost, just tidying up. Have also archived the Ex-players thread, and created a new up to date one, as it was over 80 pages long.

There are a load of threads since the start of the season BTW, eg the Derby match thread.

Seems the old TOTT board number now takes you to the archive so everyone that had a bookmark will end up at the archive.
