I had "Talk of the Town" as my quick link default page to DATM, the new changes had changed it to the archive page. Just had to change it back grrr Youre only sore cos you wont be able to resurrect a GCSE thread from 2007

Why delete my thread? What is the point in people posting threads if they are going to be deleted. I literally posted about Lee Bowyer as he is the new fave for the job and how iād like him as manager.
Stupid having a forum to then delete threads....

Not sure this was necessary.
More boards makes the forum messier IMO.

It wasn't deleted, it was moved and dropped into the new manager thread. I agree that this would have been a useful thread in its own right but Grim was trying to make the site more user friendly. Btw I appreciate what you admin guys do. Long hours, shit pay and crappy comments from people like me. Sorry about my crappy comments and thanks for all you do. Here, have a LDR star from me. Now, please sort out my banned IP account. I cannot use this forum on my WiFi! Cheers lads!

Not sure this was necessary. More boards makes the forum messier IMO. Archiving just means that people start new threads rather than add to old ones. There's a lot of discussion on those old ones which is good to see when new comments have been added. Don't need an archive, I just used to go beyond page one.

I am on the verge of proroguing DATM....
Folks - if you've had to update a bookmark feel free to bill me for the thirty seconds it takes you to do that, I'll take it out of my admin salary.
Regarding the Lee Bowyer thread, we regularly get asked why we're not merging threads where discussion on the same topic is happening in parallel.
In reality, the negative impact is minimal.

Can I ask a question ( maybe two) . And again, I'm not having a go. Being an admin is an unpaid ballache and I salute all of your dwindling number for doing it But I just wonder, I'm not suggesting you had a poll or anything , too many of them, but might it have been more polite / democratic to have said " ok guys this is what I'm going to do " I know you would have then got pelters but to me it would have felt a little more ... consultative ( poor choice of word) Also , ( and if you've written this already I apologise ) are there any benefits to an admin of " tidying up" . Does it make your job easier in any way ? Because if it does then I'm totally down with it . Whereas if it was just a whim then it feels a bit different. Thanks in advance and thanks for the job you and Kenny do . It really is appreciated by many on here

I thought that a sole Lee Bowyer thread was justified just as a sole Garry Monk thread was justified. They are both ultra controversial characters and Lee Bowyer had come from nowhere to be the odds on favourite to take the hot seat. I suppose the message to thread starters is to include a poll to stop it getting merged.š The Monk thread of mine i deleted due to too many cry babies that can't see beyond the end of their own nose. It was a justified post about a specific topic that was worth a discussion Yes he has had bad blood with HTAFC recently. Yes some people don't like the Leeds connection. BUT on the other hand, without going through it all again he has been proven as a solid championship manager that can do it on a budget.

With regards to Monk and in comparison to Bowyer, I agree and I've stated that on other threads. Both blokes we clearly twats but Monk is a twat with pertinent Championship experience.

What is the "Talk of the town" archive section I've just seen? It seem to have a load of newish threads in there for no particular reason. As a housekeeping exercise I have archived any threads that have not been commended on since the season started. These are still accessible (read-only) and if anyone strongly feels a particular thread needs resurrecting then you can PM me and I'll do it. It means that the main board has now gone from potentially 77000 threads dating back to the beginning of the forum to around 350 "current" ones. Nothing has been lost, just tidying up. Have also archived the Ex-players thread, and created a new up to date one, as it was over 80 pages long. Fucking hell you must have been bored. What is the point?

I tend to come in through Google and type in 'Talk of the town Huddersfield' or similar. This seems to now always take me to the Archive page. The main board doesn't seem to appear in my google search at all. ...took me a bit to work out why I was reading threads from two or three weeks ago that had no new content.
Is this unique to me? Or is it an issue that'll sort itself out over time when Google catches on?

I once lost a nice navy Barbour jacket on a drunken night out and a lovely cagoule in a house move ... You should start a thread on that. Things you have lost whilst pissed up. I once had a leather box jacket (Jesus and Mary Chain days) nicked at an 18th at Cambridge Road baths. In the function room, not the pool.
