As we already have two AMs of below average height in Pritchard and O'Brien, if we do take Szmodics in January it suggests to me Pritchard is on his way. We're not, Maynard said we had no interest in him 2 weeks ago, although I've no problem with Pritch going. Every bit as much of a waste of money as the foreigners

He had come across all our earlier signings one way or another.

Perhaps Wagner did. Perhaps we had identified them long before Moss left so he did have time - we don’t recruit solely in the window. What I do know however is that you’re squabbling with possibly the one person on here that truly knows when they say something. Most can attest to that. We’ve also done this particular argument to death now - there’s little to gain. |

Reasons to be positive about the transfer window: 1. The Cowley's are trying to play attractive football and have shown that they improve and trust young players. I think that makes us an attractive proposition to prem clubs looking to give youngsters game time. 2. If we can shift our 3/4 big spenders then we should have a bit of cash and definitely wages to attract some players who can add quality and balance to the squad. Reasons to be fearful about the transfer window: 1. Our squad is threadbare. Ultimately we still need a squad of 23-26. Wholesale changes are destabilising and unlikely in reality. 2. While we might be an attractive loan club for young prem talent, we really need gnarled old pros to give us some experience. Nothing against kids but we have enough of our own. ... Hopefully we can get a few players in during the window, perm or loan. As a minimum, I think we need (in priority order): - Centre half - Elphick is ok backup, Stankovic shows promise. Assume Kongolo leaves. We need someone to partner Schindler though, absolutely cornerstone to success in this league. - Creative 10 - Someone who can unpick a defence. Pritchard doesn't seem to do it for us although he should stay as a squad player. Needs some competition maybe. - Pace out wide - We need someone who can transition defence to attack quickly, and has a decent delivery. Kachunga tries and Diakhaby has the raw material but there must be better options. - A Target man - basically Mounie but without the attitude and square feet / head, as an alternative or partner to Grant. - Left back - Brown looks good but is probably still a bit raw. IF (big if) we could all of the above, I'd be ecstatic. What do others think? Any names fitting the bill? We have someone to partner Schindler, his name is Jon Stankovic - he's waited ages for his chance and he's grabbed it with both hands. better than elphick |
