That could well be Warnock finishing with a relegation just as easily as saving them.
He has no time to work with the players as this is the only week without a midweek game. They are in trouble. There's no crowd to get behind the new manager. There's lots of new rules on what can and can't be done in training and on match day.
Gut feeling is he'll make enough difference, but the change could make it worse in the circumstances.

It was only a matter of time, the local lad 'he's one of our own' thing could only go on so long in the face of lousy results. I thought he'd go by new year tbh. Not good for us.

Makes it harder for us - Warncok always gets more out of his players so expect Boro to pick up in the remaining games

Hopefully he will upset the players ( Siewert style) and results continue to be poor.

The thing is motivating his teams is his speciality and thats probably even more important now than ever with the weird matchday routine and lack of fans. Sadly I think he'll keep them up, just hope its not at our expense. Unless this team pulls itself together sharpish it might well be.

Sadder that we didnt have enough men in the team to take the bollockings and admit they were under performing to some tune??

That is not good news for us. It's not good news for Adam Clayton Given that he signed El Hadji Diouf to great fanfare the year after saying he was lower than a sewer rat, I think Clayts will be ok.

Middlesboro have 2 'free hits' with Hull and QPR's depleted squads so if he makes an early impact I can see trouble ahead.

As most are saying on here that is very bad news for us. Warnock will not let Boro be relegated and they have some decent players who have been underperforming. It is a dream for him because I would say that his last couple of appointments the players he inherited were not as good as the ones he has now. He took one of those teams up as well. Remember the impact he had at Rotherham that season. I know he had longer but they were dead and buried and ended up just outside the play-off positions. And of course they stuffed us 2-0 at the John Smiths. One small, very small crumb of comfort is that we don't have to play them again, although we only took a point off them anyway.
We are really in a bad place now and only Town's traditional habit of losing to shite and then beating the good teams can save us. Forest away could be a good bet ... away win anyone?

If we go down we absolutely deserve to and even if we don't all I can see us looking forward to is season after season of struggle until we eventually do; apart from Grant and O'Brien I don't see any other saleable assets and they'll probably go on the cheap because of the aftermath of Covid. The opportunity has been wasted by the club and we're back to square one I think. Was watching a bit of the League 2 play-off semi last night and was thinking we might be playing one of them next season; last season we were going to Stamford Bridge, The Etihad, Liverpool away....

I'm not calling for the Cowleys' heads just yet. They inherited a squad of players whose heart was not in it, and many of them are still here. Changing manager will achieve nothing - the players are the biggest problem we have.
The Wigan performance (more so than the result) is worrying. And in all honesty I think we're more likely to go down than not. But changing the manager is not going to alter that.
If we stay up, maybe see whether the Cowleys have it in them to turn it around for next season & give us a solid season in the championship. If we go down, can they realistically get us back up at the first attempt? If not, ship them out and give somebody else a go. Who that would be though, I don't know.

He's not the messiah. Would appear to be at least on a par by the preceeding comments. Must be getting a tidy bung for 8 games.

Would changing manager not help though? My real worry is there's just no style. We aren't keeping it tight at the back, we aren't trying to play a counter attack, we aren't really trying a passing game, we aren't playing a pressing game and we aren't overloading down the wings. What exactly is the game plan?

Can’t see the appointment of Warnock at Boro being anything but bad news for us unfortunately. Still in our own hands but we need to wake up & sort it out, sharpish!
