Playing with Andy Booth on Lindley Rec when we were both at Lindley Juniors. Unsurprisingly by far the best player in the school.
I also remember a lad in our class - a big lad, so I won't name him as he may post on here! - shitting himself while playing on the same Rec during a games lesson. Usually, something like that would mean a lifetime of piss taking, but hardly anything was ever said!

In that case please provide an alternative rational explanation of how watching Town for 50 years can be considered as "bliss" !

That's the perfect word to describe watching Town for 50 years has been for me. What single word would you use to sum up your support of Town? ( bearing in mind that everyone has a different opinion)

Remember Wallie? (pronounced 'whal-ley') - the only rule was to hit the ball back against the wall, in turn and in the manner of squash. Any number started, you were eliminated as and when you missed. You could hit some wickedly oblique angles and get the ball through the gap in the railing and onto the main road. Under a bus if you were really lucky. Yes! Like an offshoot of slam. When you got them under car wheels of parked cars - that was like getting a 180 at darts! I remember you couldn't kick the ball until it had stopped. The ultimate in our game was down Blagden Lane in Newsome. The next shot could be about a third of a mile away, at an impossible angle. You still had a go though! Ah yes, that was an option too. We usually played it on the move though to keep it quick and on the tarmac. If the ball rolled down and into the brook at the bottom of Sam Road, it had the potential to end up in the sea. In that case, you'd be fucked if it was your shot...

My folks have my class photos with him in before Town fed him growth hormones! We left Sally Nook in 1990, him to a become footballing legend, and me to become... Well... not a footballing legend.

Yep, two years then. I left SN in 1992.

Remember a couple of things from the early 1960's..... after a home game against Rotherham, found one of the old wooden rattles. Now an offensive weapon but then lots of kids had them. at another home game, I got separated from my Dad & was walked around the perimeter of the pitch by a policeman until I was claimed. Must have been 5 or 6 then. Those were the days my friend! Remember in 1966, when Harry Roberts, shot & killed 3 Policemen, in Shepherds Bush! The following Saturday, Town were playing at home & Town fans in the Cowshed, taunted PC's from Huddersfield Constabulary, with ditty that went like this! "Harry Roberts is our king, is our King, he kills coppers." The response of the Police was instant they jumped into the crowd, truncheons drawn, assaulting random fans, in the Cowshed. Many were dragged out & kicked of Leeds Road. Yep those were the days my friend! - UTT.

You’d know Dylan Evans then. I was at Lindley and SN a few years after, left the latter in ‘97. Got dog shit all over me from a sliding tackle on Lindley Rec, playing for the school team, with Summerscales and Broadley laughing (to tie into your initial post!)

I was really good mates with Dylan for a few years. He moved from somewhere near Wakey (Crofton I think). Used to have my tea at his house once a week when he lived on the corner of Thornhill Rd and Syringa St. We sort of grew apart when we went to Sally Nook. My folks are still in touch with his - think they live in Wales now. No idea about where Dylan is these days. His sister Claire had a kid with ex-Town player Rodney Rowe. Not seen her for years though. Remember plenty of dog shite at Lindley Rec, and I remember Summerscales and Broadley. Did Broadley still have that brown leather jacket with massive lapels when you were there? Never saw him without it in four years I was there!

Yeah that’s right, I lived next door to him on Marsh Grove Road. Think they moved there late 70s just before we did. He’s up in Newcastle, is still a Town fan and came down for the playoff final. Yeah they were characters, Broadley and Summerscales!

Big semi, second house from the Imperial Road end if I remember right. Nice family the Evanses, but one of the untidiest houses in Huddersfield. One of my memories of Dylan is when he came to my house for tea and asked for tomato sauce sandwiches. My mum thought this was a bit strange, but made them anyway. He took one bite and complained that she'd put butter on the bread!
