Wigan will be handed a 12-point deduction after entering administration with the timing of the sanction to be decided when final Championship placings are determined, the EFL has announced.

Hasn't it come to something when we are relying on administration issues for our footballing survival? The phrase "Clutching at straws" comes to mind

Just to repeat. We might finish below Wigan minus 12 points. Wigan. Minus 12 points. Wigan. We were in the greedy league last season. Money everywhere. Wigan. 12 points. Minus.

At least we may not finish bottom Glad it throws another team into the mix, still plenty points to play for, just every other team seems to keep winning. Brum are there for the taking if we can put any semblance of a performance together.

Bloody hell - is that the EFL acting quickly and decisively?
Now, if they could just get on to the small matter of The Massive and what one might call a blatant attempt at cheating - though I couldn't possibly comment - then that would be just grand.

Really sad that we are hoping for this to save us but i’ll take it.
With their current form they may well finish above us anyway providing all their players are still available for selection.

We are staying up! Goodbye Wigan! If I played for Wigan, and I just read your post, then I’d be doing my level best to ram those words right up your fucking smug arse.

Looks like PH's warning of 50 - 60 EFL clubs being in danger of going out of business is starating to look real. indeed phill hodgkinson warned both the efl and us that this was likly to happen right down the pyramid. the one thing for bus is go down or not we will not be going in to administration a hell of a lot of clubs may not be sure they wont.i know we are in a difficult time but despite people saying different it will not happen to us and for that we should be thankfull

Hasn't it come to something when we are relying on administration issues for our footballing survival? The phrase "Clutching at straws" comes to mind If we are to profit from another clubs misfortune then I would feel a little uneasy, but at the end of the day if Wigan have broken the rules then they should be punished in accordance with EFL regulations. On the one hand, it's a kick in the teeth for the manager and players, and everything they've achieved since the turn of the year, but on the other they may not have been able to go on such a run if they'd operated within their means. We'll never know. Like you, I don't like relying on the failings of others, but we are in a desperate situation. We have to try and make the most of any advantage we get. That said, if we don't start picking up some points soon, Wigan's impending points deduction won't matter as we'll be going down anyway. There's still three relegation spaces to fill and Wigan - if their recent good form suffers - will only fill one of them.

A stroke of luck that they played Stoke yesterday and gave them a spanking, rather than having to play them today when there is a cloud in the air.

Will they lose any players that they had on extended contracts after June 30? Surely they can't afford to extend for the extra month any more? Or maybe that's why the announcement came today?

Breaking news..
L##ds Utd are under investigation by the EFL for allegedly being a complete set of wankers..
This carries an immediate 40 points deduction..
The result is a forgone conclusion..

There's another bonus with all this. Wigan have Barnsley (A), Hull (H) and Charlton (A) still to play. Now they've got to 50 points, they might have relaxed a bit in those games. On 38, it's a different matter and you'd think those games would be harder for their opponents now.

Would not be suprised if more teams follow wigan into admin especially those in the lower leagues
They will appeal any points deduction and might have a solid case especially in these covid 19 dark days
Need to sign a few of their better players which might improve their cash flow

What if they cease trading before the end of the season? Their results will be null and void, yes? As it stands we would only lose one point - I think we drew there - but other teams could lose as many as six!
Have to say - I don't think that it will come to that...

Administrator on Sky Sports News seemed pretty confident they would full fill their fixtures and find a buyer. No guarantees of course, but he sounded pretty sure. He also suggested that the reason they are in admin is because the current owners don't want to put any more money into the club.
