No. Of all the evenings to start a negative thread. Unbelievable. Mr Ogden is a provincial radio presenter and commentator. He is perfectly adequate in both roles. His affection for HTAFC is genuine without being blind to their shortcomings at times. Mr Ogden's commentary is the soundtrack of the club's most memorable goals over recent years. Can I suggest we all enjoy this evening and leave him alone? Please? That's just not true though is it? I'd say our most memorable goal over recent years was Schidler's Penalty. Paul Ogden had his chance to write his commentary into Huddersfield Town legend - and he fluffed that chance. His commentary tonight was an absolute disgrace, he should hang his head in shame if he has just one ounce of dignity Do you think he was under orders from Radio Leeds? He literally mentioned Leeds every time he spoke.

Thought he was decent tonight.
Hopefully get one or two more seasons from him.
His legs have gone a bit but still breaks up play well and if we can get some one with a bit more creativity alongside him no reason to get rid.

Thing is Popey although Evertonian told me some years ago he would rather commentate on Town. But he has had to become a Leeds fan... commentators should be neutral in my view but the special guest is usually from the 'home' club. I watchd it on Sky but after final whistle it was all about Leeds. We had our day in the sun. Its their turn now. We shall rebuild.

He went a bit over the top tonight and reckon if someone rewatched ifollow he probably mentioned Leeds more than town but it was a big occasion for both and reckoned he was groomed to bang on about it.
I really like oggy but tonight it was utterly cringey
He is a nice fella tho as met him a few times around the ground.

I think Oggy could follow Glennon into the barbering trade. There you can say the same fucking thing every 10 minutes. Something for the weekend Sir?

I watched on sky so didn’t listen to the radio commentary, but I like Oggy, a top man and commentator IMHO, it’s not an easy job and you can’t please everyone.
The sky Leeds love in straight after the game was an absolute joke though, 20 minutes all about leeds without even mentioning us or West Brom in what was a massive game for both clubs
They’re on sky (again) on Sunday so why not leave it until then, tonight was about us and West Brom, not the arrogant chestwankers
Anyway, cracking win, great spirit shown, we are staying up, UTT

In Oggy's defence commentating on Huddersfield Town games there isn't a lot to say. That may be why he always gives a complete description of the colour of the shirt, shorts and socks of each team. Never understood why he does that.. just filling airtime with random drivel maybe? One must remember that he's doing radio commentary, so he's helping to paint a visual scene for people to imagine, much as he may describe the stadium or anything happening off the pitch. I think this needs to be taken into account with folk saying his commentary's slow and too far behind the action, too. Not a problem when you're listening on the wireless, but suddenly it is when you're watching a live video feed at the same time. There are a lot of nuances between live radio and television commentary. Overall, as a bloke and a commentator for RL I think he's decent, but agree tonight that he was laying Leeds on a little too thick...

Did he refer to West Brom as Brentford a couple of times or was it the tension scrambling my brain? Dunno but when Willock scored whoever was commentating on Sky managed to get the TEAM wrong!

Never understood why he does that.. just filling airtime with random drivel maybe? Very much in the style of Henry ‘Blowers’ Blofeld. Paints a picture of the whole situation in ones mind. I like his commentary of our games. Gives me a bit of a comforting feeling akin to hearing the warm crackle of needle on vinyl. I have often seen him on the train over the years. He never seems to age. I agree in his post match interviews, the questions are normally safe and not very probing. BUT, after the Luton game, I thought he got more stuck in than normal. I think Danny must have been thinking “what the fucks happening here?”, as Oggy was asking some quite awkward stuff. So he does have it in him. He’s just too polite sometimes to really take his interviewees to task.

Its Radio LEEDS. Forgive his bosses for telling him to talk about LEEDS for all the LEEDS fans who were listening, as LEEDS were promoted.
His commentary is usually very good and he has a real passion about Town. Long may he be there.

Piss poor by the sounds, watched on sky fortunately. Doesn’t surprise me unfortunately. Radio Leeds ridiculously biased. Surprised at oggy though. Can you imagine pope and whelan getting excited when town got promoted?! I think oggy has blotted his copy book.

I've never had much of an opinion on him, always just thought he was decent enough. But seeing the play on Ifollow while he is commentating opened my eyes to just how poor he is. He constantly names the wrong players and comes out with some right tosh. It's not an easy job by any stretch though He’s quite literally the worst commentator I’ve ever heard and that includes Michael Clarke(cricket) which is really saying something. As you say, he often gets players wrong, that’s your job! His description is often baffling as it has very little resemblance to what’s actually happening. I would say he has only survived this long because he's on radio. I don’t get too bothered by commentators, but he is the worst. Sorry if that is harsh, but it’s true in my mind.

Final whistle blows and a banner goes up across the top of the screen "Leeds are promoted". Cut to Dom Matteo.. Cut to Paul Robinson. Whether we like it or not we weren't the story last night. Ogden works for Radio Leeds. The story was Leeds. It wouldn't surprise me if more Leeds fans than town fans were listening on the FM frequency.. Yes it was irritating him going on about them but that's his job. Why can't our supporters ever enjoy anything? Last night might turn out to be as important a win as we've had in years and people are picking holes in Ogden. A guy who will be paid peanuts for commentating on our games and comparative to his peers is OK.

You want to tey listening to some other local commentators, Ogden is far better than most, as is the Radio Leeds production team in general.
I know Glennon gets stick but he's a a decent summariser himself.

I wouldn’t get rid but he and rest of the radio Leeds team need to understand town fans better
I still believe we get a second rate broadcast channel - there’s annoyance we pay the same as the fans of the other two clubs and get treated as the poor relation
Then they need to understand their audience- do they think the majority listening to the town frequently were Leeds fans? They had a chance to showcase what they do on the feed and end with fans calling for oggy to get sacked! Nice one radio Leeds sports team

KOR said he just had to turn up, Oggy held it all together.

Put it in perspective. We all think Pope is a chest pumping wanker.so why would we want a commentator of our own in that ilk. He appears to be a humble bloke and we are a humble club. He is doing his job and to be fair the one thing you need in a commentator, which he has in abundance, is a passion for the club.

I listen to a lot of other teams commentaries at away games and believe me Iggy is one of the best. I also have met him and he's a lovely man , very sincere in his love for Town. Yes it was a bit galling, the Leeds love in after the game both on sky and the radio but can understand it. I also like Matt Glennon (tin hat on ) , but today I'm going to enjoy listening to all the results come in and for the first time this season not get stressed , enjoy the summer everyone and get ready for the ride next season UTT

Wouldn't have bothered me if they'd announced a 3 hour Leeds United special from 8:30pm, but surely for at least 1/2 hour after the game and certainly during the game, we deserve at least equal coverage, for what was after all a pretty important game for us too?
Would Whelan & Pope, indeed the whole coverage have been the same had the situation been reversed?
