Very good job they've done. Be interesting to see if the takeover happens and if there's any money for them to finish their reshaping. Which takeover? I am baffled too what is that all about .

They’ve kept up a team that was on its uppers when they arrived, with the club reeling from one error to the next and created a team from freebies and loanees
They deserve all the credit tonight for holding us together and getting the club over the line tonight

Thank you Danny & Nicky Cowley, no doubt about it, when you joined we were in the shit! With a team, that had forgotten how to win! It' been a battle all season, let's hope that we beat our old friends, Millwall next week! A clear out is needed, new Cowley recruits, with a good pre-season, looking forward to it already - UTT.

We'd have all taken 51 points with a game still to go after our first 9 games. Theyve done a great job despite inheriting a dispirited squad used to losing and hampered by having over £65m worth of signings not good enough to even start a game. I look forward to seeing them build a team. The signings theyve made so far have been generally very good. After 9 games on the 29th of Sep last year Win. 0 Draw 2 Lost 7

Superb achievement by the Cowleys!
We should not underestimate how well these guys have done.
They didn't just take over a team on the back foot... we were absolutely dead & buried, a team with zero confidence & no idea what a win looked like. Players that we could rely on in previous seasons were mentally gone & had no belief.
They picked us off our knees & will be able to hit the ground running with their own signings in the new season & really put their stamp on this squad.
It might not have been pretty this season but boy did we need two characters like them to dig us out of one mighty hole!

Kev the greyhound guy was bang on! He knew they were quality and I think we'll see better again next season from them! Blimey, thanks for that and yeah I do think they'll be successful as they will put in however much work it takes. Us football fans of all teams are generally natural born pessimists and expect things to go wrong, but I always felt they'd get it done for you (although I admit I did wonder after a few results recently!!) Interesting to hear Danny talk tonight about recruiting Championship quality players as each division has it's own unique differences and obviously depending on finances I think you'll see good signings who'll do a job next season. I said that they'd keep you up when I first came on this board and said that next season you'd be top half at least and despite lots of downs as well as ups this season I still stick by that. Actually I offered a bet as I recall to those who said you were already down so best check whether I need to chase anyone up although think I agreed that 19th to 21st was a draw so best not crow too much. Cheers Kev

Listening to some of his interviews tonight, he doesn't seem very happy. Appears very frustrated but surely they knew what they were walking in to.
It wouldn't be the most surprising of news to find out they've left the club in the coming weeks. Their stock is still quite high given all their promotions and they can now add saving us to their CV. I think they'd be out of here like a shot if a more stable club approached them

I've been critical - no apologies. However, I have always maintained that I want them to stay and build their own squad. As strange as it sounds, the last few weeks, which have been dire, will have done them good. They now know what life at the sharp end is like; an invaluable experience. Onwards we go. Clear out what we can and recruit wisely. Sounds simple I know. A great night for Town. UTT The only thing in the last 6 weeks that has made me change my mind on them was the last substitutions bringing on Grant and ESR. Yes they were like for like but showed a bit of intent and an actual plan. Absolutely agree with this. I'm getting slaughtered on the Cowleys out thread post Luton but I cannot fathom why when they seem to get some performances together we all of a sudden ditch the plan and all attacking intent goes out the window, mainly against teams around us at home. They nailed it tonight though and I'm more than happy to congratulate them on a mission accomplished but it's been a bloody frustrating journey.

You can’t go from losing every week for two years to winning every week overnight. That’s not how it works. If people were able to look at football dispassionately from time to time - admittedly a difficult thing to do - they’d see that. There has to be some transition period - and frustration at inconsistencies is going to be part of that. I would be surprised if many teams have achieved what we just achieved - bottom and with a single point after six games, dead and buried with zero confidence, zero belief, zero to build on, staring at back to back relegations every day from day one until tonight (can you imagine the pressure? The fortitude required to turn things around?)

I for one have dished my fair share of criticism at the Cowleys over the last few games but let's not forget that when they came in we had 1 point from 10 games was it? No team in championship history have ever survived from that position. We have to all commend that achievement surely. Make it two this season then as Stoke will equal that.

Heard it said that it would take a truly bizarre set of results to send us down now.
I dont think thats right. We already are 100% safe provided Wigan are docked 12 points.
Barnsley cant catch us.
Whoever loses between Hull and luton can't catch us. If its a draw neither can.
Whoever loses between Charlton and Wigan can't catch us. If its a draw Wigan can't.
So regardless of how freakily bizarre the results are, there will be 3 teams below us.

Hats off to these guys. I don’t think they are clueless at all. What they are is pragmatic. They used the tools at their disposal to craft a strategy to get us over the line. Doubtful that many people could have pulled that off with the mental fortitude and conviction required. “Trust the process” - they believe in themselves and that rubbed off - just enough - on the players. Next season will be exciting, for different reasons.

Really hope the style of play is down to circumstances. If we continue to play like this at the start of next season then they wont be given much time Whats not to like about a win against a top side? 🤔 Some people are never satisfied! Hosses for courses and all that.

Many thanks to the management team for our survival against the odds. They have a major task ahead in the necessary clear out and recruitment. I saw this on a WBA fans forum and I can really relate to it:

Yep, i hope they stay and get a chance to rebuild. Surley they were given promises before they signed?
Let's hope this is the start of some thing good where we can win on a or a consistent basis and challenge towards the top end in a year or 2.

Cowley is perhaps a little optimistic trying to catch QPR when they are 3 points and +5 better goal diff ahead, but stranger things have happened

Perhaps it isn't their fault but if you look back at the chances we had to pull away from the bottom throughout the season (Stoke H, Barnsley A, Cardiff H, Wigan H, Luton H, there may be more) we haven't just failed to take those chances, we played really really poorly as well. In the 3 home games before tonight we had 2 shots on target yet in 2 of those games we were 2 0 down going into the last 15. Going back to the original posters comments it was great to see us have a tactical plan tonight but you can't deny that the games preceding this have been dire and devoid of ideas.

They came in with the club on its knees, some of the players literally so in matches due to a Siewert pre-season.
We have some gaping holes in our squad and the Wigan game brought this home. They had the right attributes in every position - pacy full backs that could attack and defend, wide players that can beat a man and get in behind etc etc. And that’s just Wigan. In contrast we had Simpson at right back that hasn’t gone past the half way line all season. Tens of millions spaffed on players that can’t cut it in the championship.
There’s been some dross served up but there’s also been some good football. Considering the state we’ve been in and the lack of a pre-season I think they’ve done a great job.
They should know enough lower league players to do some canny recruitment if the money is there (big if).
And they’ll actually have a pre-season to whip us into a team. I’d like to see us develop some patterns of play that give us a chance of scoring goals regularly and being a genuine threat so we can move on from pragmatic football.
