Shitting hell, what a plan. Someone tell Phil about this checklist. Armed with this insight, I reckon he could scrap everyone in the backroom. Phil can do this himself. Unnecessarily overcomplicated. My missus works for a large organisation and the time she has wasted on zoom meetings during lockdown is unbelievable, Getting the work done is the key, not meetings about getting it done. I came home for lunch the other day and the missus was just starting a dept zoom meeting.... I made lunch, bagel, eggs, smoked salmon and spinach, Ate it, made and drank a coffee, loaded the dishwasher, had a yogurt and a pint of water, went for a piss, and went back to work... probably 35 mins. She was sat on zoom and the meeting hadn't even started. Is it really that hard to identify good players? You could probably get suggestions on here more aligned to our requirements and budgets than a team of scouts and recruiters find. If we want to revolutionise then think outside the box and use the people that want the best for the club rather than themselves and their careers. The club should mobilise the fan base, similar to the way the football manager scouting works and formalise tip offs/supporter scouting.... Yes you would get alot of the "our jonny at battyeford u7s is the next messi" but if you separate the wheat from the chaff it would give you an edge. Hahahahaha fucking brilliant. Let’s use our fans as our scouting network, you couldn’t write it. Do you forget that it’s not just about identifying talent is it? It’s about them fitting the style the team wants to set up, being within budget to ensure we could sign others of quality/not go over budget. It’s about beating off tons of other competition (if a player is of talent, their agent will be ringing around loads of clubs) and within beating that competition you have to convince them why Huddersfield - the plan, the area they will live in, their development, their family will be settled etc. That’s forgetting the demand for agent fees, agents playing off other clubs to demand a higher salary and better terms. Also talent doesn’t always cut it, somebody can look fantastic in one foreign league for example but the transition to the Championship isn’t always guaranteed for numerous factors. That’s before we get into their personality type.. who’s to say they aren’t a bad egg and may cause disruption in the overall squad. The club have got recruitment horribly wrong in recent years and have to be accountable as it’s their job but the classic the fans could scout better just shows your immaturity. It’s the same as Oti claiming he could walk in any team and manage them. Grow up.

Your over complicating it, They are running of a version of football manager as it is, Why not have a version running hand in hand? Whos inputting the stats for pro scout? Anyone with an ounce of football knowledge would see that Chabs wasnt a midfielder and needed the game infront of him, I watched him once to see that. Diakhaby played once and you could see he wasnt going to fit into wagners team with wingers tracking back so much.... So who scouted him and what backhanders were given to sign him? Its not replacing the scouting system, its complementing it, If you go and watch Rochdale vs Swindon you can access the app and score players for key attributes which then compliments pro scout. The club can cross reference with more than one opinion and most likely an opinion of someone that watches town week in week out. Is it any surprise that players usually make or break their town careers within the first 5 games of them playing for us? Generally fan opinion quickly weeds them out..... so why not weed them out before they get here? Anyway, If you do stuff the same as every other club, you rely on having the best people in the recruitment department, something im pretty sure 99% of this board would agree we dont seem to have.

If I had that for lunch my stomach would think my throat had been cut.
A yoghurt washed down with a pint of water ? and not a mention of hand washing.

No, you’re over simplifying it. Assuming that it’s as easy as watching a player a few times and it’s a done decision, like I said the ones that look an absolute catch, you can’t just take them like a pic & mix, so many other factors then come into play. Town careers in the first 5 games? What are you talking about? Smith and Hogg didn’t they vastly improve in the end? Remember when people thought Hefele was a joke in his first few games? Were people fussed about Lolley when he left or Wells?! Nope, but they’ve gone on to do well since. Guarantee if Kachunga goes on to perform, people will come crawling back saying “I knew we should have kept him”. What about Pritchard at Brentford? Fans were of the impression that they “wish they could have a player like him at Town”. It’s not as simple as watching a few games and them standing out that they can emulate that success elsewhere. The fact that this forum is full of constant debates on players prove how different people perceive quality. Everyone’s the expert until they are in that situation.

Very impressive cv, clearly had lots of contacts in the game and a very good reputation. Good luck to Mr Bromby but I fear he will have a far shorter reach and lower influence. Be interesting to see where he pops up next and how long he stays.

I cut out carbs at lunch a couple of years back though lockdown has ruined it. The difference is I can now go and lie down for a bit In the home working environment rather than falling asleep at my desk.

Can eat like a horse but nothing sticks to me except the ale. A typical lunch for me would be 3 chicken sandwiches, sausage roll, pork pie, a share bag of crisps and a Toffee Crisp. Oh, and a diet Coke 😏
