It's interesting but of no real significance to me. I was never in a position to go to matches with a cohort whilst at a drinking age so going to football has never had a connection with drinking. I probably have a beer at the stadium once or maybe twice during a whole season, usually either very early or late in the season on a nice warm day. It's not part of my usual'match day experience' at all. I've never had a pint in any ground in my life; don't see the need or the point, personally. Driving to and from games pretty much prohibits it anyway. I have, however, had the odd pre-match pint in the Peacock mind...

Folk drinking in footy grounds have more brass than sense. 3,80€ for a pint of decent pils on the continent is expensive, but £4.60 to sup a flat pint of Pedigree doesn't even bear thinking about.

Don't get me wrong, the ban on drinking in view of the pitch is complete and utter horseshit and should never have been brought in in the first place. But does anyone really think that letting people drink more as an idea to get folk back to the football will go down any way besides like a lead balloon?
You'll get all sorts of nutjob campaigners saying it amounts to bribing football fans with fewer drinking restrictions, thus promoting and encouraging excessive drinking.
I do my drinking pre-match anyway. Why would I pay £5 for a pint or 330ml bottle of something warm and/or flat when I can get pints of cider for £2.50 and double rum and cokes for £3.50 in town?

If it ever does come in then wear your waterproofs because with punters holding (at least) a pint in their hands you will get sprayed when they jump up and down!

Drinks at your seat common in europe. So much more civilised no halftime rush to the kiosk. Not that I bother with the piss Town sell as beer.
Me too, I quaff as much as I can before the game and then again after the game, In the boozer, I aint wasting my brass supping grossly expensive luke warm shit.
The last time I had a pie it was shit, burnt crust but soggy bottom, A balti pie with 2 small bits of chicken and a bit of sauce, Never again.
That's my take. Used to have the start of a hangover from lunch session after 2 hour break. It was quite hard work drinking the first couple. I go in the car now and rarely drink pre match. I'm usually dying of thirst when I get home at 6pm though. As for food I'm quite capable of going 2 hours without shovelling down a load of processed shite.

How people can eat those bloody awful pies is beyond me. Bloke who sits near me has a regular ritual, he arrives 2 minutes after kick off clutching an horrendously smelling pie smothered in ketchup. I have to endure the smell for 10 minutes and then indulge in conversation with him whilst he has tomato sauce smudged all over his face.

Whilst I’m not 100% sure drinking in the stands would work (too many people going back and forth/impractical and expensive to have servers) their has to be a better solution on the match day drinking experience. Like it or not, alcohol is a big part of the majority’s match day.
After many years of being a season ticket holder, job and country changes have meant I’m unable to make many games nowadays. When we got promoted to the premier league I had to be at our first home game. Cue half time, one of the first down to the bar to find every pint being pulled to order and missing Mooys only goal of the game.
Point being, alcohol needs to be more readily (and quickly) accessible whatever steps within reason that may involve

Surely people walking backwards and forwards to the bar during the game is going to make it harder to social distance not easier? Yeah and it gets on my tits folk wanting to get past me. have you tried a bra ??

I think a reasonable compromise would be to shut the bars once kick off starts until 5 mins before half time but allow you to take your drink to your seat. I often fancy a beer at half time but can't face having to down a freezing cold pint on a winters day in 2 minutes. I'd certainly be more likely to buy a beer pre match too if I could take it to my seat.

Get some staff walking round with those back packs dispensing drinks, far easier
