Let's assume Grant - who lets be honest, always saw the club as a stepping stone and never attempted to create a bond with the club/fans - is sold for £17 million, and Sobhi goes for £5 million. Even the most pessimistic Town fans must see that £22 million is a decent wedge. If (it's a big IF) the club was to re-invest even half that cash, it could provide the springboard for a promotion push. Of course this all depends on Big Phil showing trust in the new manager and then loosening the purse strings; and our scouting team having replacement targets in mind, ready to green-light. Okay scrap that then. The money will pay for a new set of floodlights

Will the club reinvest the money? I'm not convinced. As for a promotion push based on what we have now and the extent the squad needs overhauling it'll be a miracle just to stay up.

We’re short by 5 players Imo - 6 really given we don’t have a keeper who can catch the ball consistently. We lost players who completed 35% of our minutes last season
And I don’t mean signings which have been on loan at Hearts, from the Dog & Duck etc like last season or various rumours / confirmation - We don’t want to repeat last season’s errors. Most of the 5+ need to be first XI starters.
Devlin promised Carlos would be backed - Still time
We have to bring in those 5+ regardless of Grant going
We’ve planned from day 1 that Sobhi / Flo would go as part of the above
We must have detailed plans on how to reinvest in the squad when Grant goes given we’ve known this is likely since Jan. Ditto if 1 or 2 of Mbenza / Diakhaby / Kongolo go.
That doesn’t mean reinvesting anything near half of the £20m+ - that’s not realistic in today’s world or the chain of Hoyle around our neck. Nobody should expect that!

Promotion push, we are 6 players off even being a mid table side never mind the squad depth, quality and mental strength needed to seriously consider a promotion push. Looking at this squad as it stands can’t see anything other then a relegation scrap.
Where is the attacking quality, where are the goals or creativity coming from how do we break down a team who wont afford the same space as an U23 team who can play with freedom. Who is the player who will control midfield and dictate the tempo of the game, where is the leadership we have been lacking the last 18 months, is this squad better then the one which finished last season?
Pinning our hopes on a few ok performances from youth players against L2 oppo is a huge difference from the intensity, quality and mental strength needed to compete in a condensed championship!
2 years of mismanagement of the Football side of the business (the core side) will always come back to bite you we got away with it last year but if we get off to another poor start it will be a long season. Assuming we make say a 12 million profit on Grant and say 3 million on Sobhi another million on Flo to take us to 16 million do we really think we will invest even half that in fees on players or will it just pay down existing liabities?

The problem with the OP is the fact that we haven't a cat in hells chance of getting 22m for those two players.

Taxes are payable on the whole amount straight away, so the first instalment is likely to go directly to the taxman. We'd have to wait until the second instalments are received before we could spend on anything else, by which point the window will likely be shut. As with a lot of business finance, it's cash flow rather than profit/loss which is the problem.

In the recent past (last 2 years) we have become obsessed with money. How much, where it has gone etc... However....When we had more cash available to invest in the team (and it's a sobering thought that, more or less, we generated about £200m more than we would in the Championship - which is also 4 times that which DH invested in the club) we can't really say that the money was used particularly wisely. Have those lessons been learned?
Any money that we recoup must be used well. There can be no doubt we need a couple of quality players in, what I mean here is suitably experienced/capable who are well recruited - NOT NECESSARILY A "STAR NAME" - and make us a better squad. The question remains is our recruitment suitably focused? I guess only time will tell. But having cash doesn't solve much, but it can help.

I have no idea how the club's cash flow works, I was just pointing out that it's not as simple as 'sell players for £22mil, have £22mil to spend.'

I dont see other clubs trousering £15M then saying ah but we cant replace the player yet because we have to pay the tax man and its only in instalments. Players at well run clubs are usually replaced immediately.

As I say time will tell - you could say that the more we spend on an individual the less value we seem to get. Although I certainly don't expect the kids to all come through (as promising as they look being Championship ready is a massive ask) it is encouraging that Bromby has presided over how that has developed.

I’m going to be more pessimistic than art (for once). If we were to recoup that sort of money for Grant & Sobhi, there’s not a chance more than a fraction of this will be spent on replacements. This is Huddersfield Town. If we can do things on the cheap, more often than not we will.

We do know there's a £31m+ bank loan to be repaid before the end of this coming season yes ?! (not to Dean Hoyle).

Phil is being transparent with the fans, similar to Dean (remember those days before he was accused of stitching the club up by asking for HIS OWN money back) but Phil is a different character so is doing it in his own way, like saying he will NOT take any income from the club! However, excuse me, WANKERS on here say he hasn't got a championship pot TO PISS IN. The club has to manage mistakes, it takes time, CHILL OUT, change is stressful for some people, it doesn't help carping on about it with unrealistic critical ACCUSATIONS on social media.

The fact Villa have just paid £16m for a Championship full-back is a promising development. Shows there's still a market for Premier League clubs paying over the odds.

We need a new player in every position apart from Left Back and Centre Forward. But you forget we have three players in our midst who will rip a new a hole in any squad.....we are going to win the league by Xmas and finish on a record 102 points with an FA cup semi final under our belt to boot which will the first game where stadiums will be fully open so we will half fill Wembley....
