Best rumour yet. Wasn't Silva keeping Depoitre out off the Porto team before his move to Milan?

Is there any truth in that or is actually as ridiculous as it sounds It was two years ago. Some things just shouldn't need to be pointed out

It would be good to get a striker & maybe a winger in today to allow CC to work with them over the international break but I suspect we'll be waiting until we clear some players out before anyone comes in & nothing looks to be happening on that front unfortunately.
Got to feel for Carlos, he's been brought in & asked to deliver attacking football but given attacking players that are about as threatening as a tellytubby carrying a butter knife.

I half expected a couple more Spaniards to join us before the deadline we obviously can't afford the Ryan Air fare

I know it's been discussed to death, but it is ridiculous that we have to wait for more outgoings before we can bring anyone in. Even if they don't go, the squad is embarrassingly thin and I would've hoped for at least a couple from abroad, in the Pipa ilk, today regardless.

I think Arsenal would want him to go to a team pushing for promotion rather than one in yet another relegation battle. Swansea will probably take him as they seem to get all the good loan deals. They use the loan market to it's full potential and why not? How can you determine who will be pushing for promotion and avoiding relegation after 4 games? They'll be looking at playing styles. The thing that might count against us, is if they still feel that our style of play hasn't changed since the Cowley's?

Because Swansea have signed good players, can score goals and have added to their squad that made the playoffs last season. Us, on the other hand cant score goals and when you cant score goals you dont win many games!!!!!!

How else do you think we spent £20m on developing Canalside whilst guaranteeing financial stability for the next decade and being able to compete with our division rivals In the transfer fee & wages stakes?

It just makes me sad.
When Schindler scored my expectations were very low. I thought i’d get to visit 19 Premier League grounds and with parachute money have 3 seasons with a chance of promotion again.
At Chelsea i thought, nice one, another Premier League season probably relegation and then again 3 seasons having a shot at promotion.
But here we are, the ambition to stay in the Championship while the parachute money lasts. Then what?
Or is that the point? Am i missing the blatantly obvious? Are these player sales to fund the club for the next 10 years? If someone came out and explained that, i’d accept it.

I imagine Hoyle's speech went something like this

On top of all those we’ve sold this summer, we also sold Mooy in January and (as stated last summer) would be getting £6m for Billing this summer ‘Which will be invested in the team’.
That seems to have gone the same way as the Canalside funding and pretty much every other ‘I’m Jonny big bollocks’ promise PH made over the past year.
Him and Hoyle must be pissing themselves at the heist of assets they’ve monetised and removed from the balance sheet in just 15 months. Fuck knows what state we’ll be in this time next year if it carries on.

That said where the mounie money ?

When you consider exactly how much we have made in player sales in the last 15 months or so, its incredible we havnt invested in 2 decent wingers and a decent striker. If you look at the team sheet from Saturday, and realise we are 5 games into the season, then you know there is something very wrong. Its obvious what is going to happen though, Grant and Kongolo will both be sold and we will bring in 1 loan player.

PH will just use Covid as an excuse for not investing in the squad. Doesn't seem to be stopping other Championship clubs strengthening thei squads.

People need to get their head out of the sand, football is fucked, the world is fucked. No one knows how things are going to look when this is all over and we need to be as secure as possible to ride it out. The money hasn't disappeared or been siphoned away, it's in the bank for when it's REALLY needed, not so some of you can have a few new toys now.
The People running the club, are good, football people who want what's best for us, whether we like their decision or not.
Our wage bill has to come down to comply with the impending salary cap and what other clubs do is no concern of ours, we've seen enough basket cases to know the mistakes that get made and who knows who the next one will be and the people running our club are being prudent to make sure it's not us.
I apologise this is in the wrong thread. M
