Woodrow would be a good signing for us as he can score goals in a struggling team. Doubt Barnsley would want to sell to a local relegation rival though. If Cardiff get him they will have done good business in the striker department. Get rid of Ward and bring in Moore and Woodrow. Covid must just be preventing us from strengthening their squad.

Not sure just know he’s moved in, would imagine a loan to a Yorkshire club is on the cards as it’s a long journey to training if he’s just moved home to stay at Newcastle

Aarons was considered very talented but he clearly had his problems it’s likely Newcastle will let him go.... Carlos regime will quickly find out what state his body is in.... I’m very sceptical about our chairman (perhaps more driven that I just don’t trust him) but this deal (obviously needs to be confirmed as a deal yet) shouldn’t be criticised regardless of the financial state of the club, low risk high reward... if it’s a signing would surely be a short term deal with an option.

Looks like he's out of contract in the summer. As you say, it's a low risk move and probably doesn't need either Kongolo or Grant to leave to fund it.

Said a week ago and it still stands that I’d judge PH, coronavirus or no coronavirus, at the end of this window but if we end up selling Grant for a shedload and bring in some injury crocked/at the end of his career/sub-standard League 1 replacement, he’ll have had his chips as far as I go. The clock’s on.

Exactly. This transfer window will make or break PH. At the moment it's looking like the latter. If fans were allowed in the stadium hed be getting some real abuse. I bet hes thankful he can hide for now

Friday at 5.Also don’t understand this impression that we have had a crap window.Brought in players for key positions, the only one I’d say wasn’t the best is pereira but it’s clear he’s backup anyway. Its also been evident that Carlos has improved players already and would expect that to continue. Some May never get much better but just have to accept that.I just don’t understand the panic, maybe that’s just me.

We are still essentially impotent up front though. Do you think either Wardy or Campbell will get into double figures? And the supply lines from the wings remains woefully inadequate.

I'd prefer to have a few more able bodies in than not, but if that doesn't happen, the season is not guaranteed as written off. Look at Leeds, they chose to invest in the coach rather than the squad and that reaped rewards. We can clearly see the improvements Carlos has made. Let's hope there's further to come, especially around the box..

We are still essentially impotent up front though. Do you think either Wardy or Campbell will get into double figures? And the supply lines from the wings remains woefully inadequate. Yeh attack wise looks weak but I think that will improve,im not saying they will get grant amount of goals but that they will contribute much more than last season due to style of play alone(Campbell got 12 the season before he came to us and but for a fantastic block against Rotherham would be 2 in 2)it’s clear to see that if grant goes we will bring someone in attacking wise though wild guess be someone who can play across the front 3 not a “9” Wards injury record isn’t what people seem to say it is and imo think the signing is solid enough. If grant doesn’t go he comes back into the team and we know what he can do goals wise. For me the issue has often been midfield(getting from back to front through midfield so slowly and making it easy for opposition) I’m not saying we will blow teams away or anything I just believe we will improve attacking wise and aren’t on board with the panic that we need to sign 3/4/5 players like Iv seen some mention. It’s only my opinion end of the day just thought would try counteract what seems to be the majority take on it.

We’ve been linked with Grimsby Town duo Louis Boyd and Ben Grist.
Boyd scored for Grimsby in their EFL Trophy game last month to become their youngest ever goalscorer.
Both players are central midfielders.
However, they are both just 15 years old, so I suspect they’ll be sent straight back out on loan again. Probably back to Grimsby.
At least we have one eye on the future...

Sorry but I have to disagree about Ward and Campbell. They will be lucky to get 12 between them this season. Both miss too many games and with only them as the "number nine" this season there will be times when both are out injured just like the beginning of the season. That is a massive gamble and if we dont get another central striker well struggle for goals big time.

What about if grant stays? As he won’t play as a central striker more than likely.Would guess his replacement should he go won’t either but club will know if getting rid of his goals whoever comes in will have to contribute at least 50% of what he got last year.

I just dont have the belief we will bring in an adequate replacement for Grant though. I fear it will, if anything, just be another cheap option who nobody else wants. I live in hope though

Its a crap window, when you look at our starting line up and bench 5 games into a new season, and realise we are 4 or 5 players short still. I really dont understand why selling Grant and bringing in a striker would suddenly be the answer. Our wide options are currently Koroma, Diakhaby and Mbenza. Are we really going to rely on them creating enough good chances all season for a striker to score 20 goals with and also chipping in with a few themselves. I cant see them getting 5 between them. Remember we have papered over the cracks by beating Forest, who have lost all their games, and a 96th minute equaliser against Rotherham. That doesnt change what everyone was saying looking at the team sheets and how short we are. We have heard since the transfer window opened, lets wait and see, lets wait and see. Well, we have waited, and we are still set to have made no changes since that Rotherham team was announced.

I totally agree. We needed a squad overhaul in the summer which hasn't happened. Our front line options are embarrassing. We need strengthening across the front three and some creativity in midfield but it just isn't going to happen I'm afraid
