If we were looking to add a winger I'd prefer one who could cross, shoot straight, create chances and score more than a couple of goals a season as a bare minimum. VLP fails on every criteria. He does have a nice smile though, and "gets the team up the field" almost as quickly and as far as a punt from the keeper would, albeit in twice the time. You're being a bit greedy there. You have seen the wingers we currently have yes? VLP is a league above all of them, therefore he'd be a huge improvement to the squad. We probably can't afford him though so don't worry you'll still get to see Koroma, Diakhby and Mbenza pretending to be championship players. I actually like Koroma but he shouldn't be starting. He may be better than our current crop, but we need to go up a decent step, not back, not the same, not slightly better. If VLP is the answer, you are asking the wrong question. |

Only reason I wouldn't want him is if he is a troublemaker behind the scenes

If VLP plays in front of an overlapping full back who can cross then you’ve got a combo which will create chances every match at this level. Beat his man for fun but has no cross himself so unless there’s a regular easy outlet for him he’s not utilised.

I’m a massive fan of VLP, same goes for Chris Lowe who id describe as an attacking fullback. However even i have to admit as a combo they created bugger all. |

Better than Flo the f course but he didn’t ever consistently find players so I understand why VLP would use him as a decoy. Smith on the other hand had 10 assists for Kachunga in our promotion season. We needed a top signing at full back- someone as good as Toffolo- a player who likes to get forward and knows and wants to create a goal when he does get there as Toff did last night. |

Why were we spending £5M on Flo with his kind in league 2? Rhetorical question. It was a massive frustration for me- our inability to find a full back with quality delivery when it was clearly such a crucial position in Wagner’s system. Robertson at Hull was £4M iirc. Anyway, at least we’re there now- with 2 quality first choice and 2 good young players as back up. |

I should have said that most players cheat to varying degrees and it’s the biggest scourge of the modern game, but for me, he’s the worst example I’ve ever seen in a Town shirt. |
